It does have a HEA (in essence) but there were def tears on the way to it. I got so attached to all the characters and my heart hurt when things ended.
Side note: Simon 👏🏼

This book follows Calla's life journey. Born in Alaska, she was relocated to Toronto at the age of 2 by her mother, leaving her pilot father, Wren, behind because her mother hated living in a small Alaskan town. Fast forward 24 years, Calla, now a city-loving influencer, resides in Toronto with her mother and stepfather, Simon, and remains estranged from her father, having not seen him since she left Alaska at 2 years old.
Following a day marked by both losing her job and ending her relationship with her boyfriend, Calla's world is shaken by a unexpected phone call from Alaska. Days later, she boards a flight to confront her father and explores the life she might have lived in Alaska. There she meets Jonah, a grumpy pilot who can't stand the sight of the entitled "Barbie" who unbenown to him, is going to rock his world. As Calla reconnects with her estranged dad, she starts piecing together why her parents' marriage fell apart, even though they were meant to be. But the character I really loved was her stepdad, Simon. You learn the story about how he married Calla's mom, even though she was still head over heels for Wren.
I LOVE me a grumpy/sunshine romance with good character development. I adored everything about this book. Love, loss, stepping out of your comfort zone, trying new things, grief, and self-discovery - this story's got it all. I felt like I was tucked into this quaint town in Alaska and savored every moment. I also love that it is a series. I wasn't ready to be done with these characters!

I haven't read a good romance in a while and this one fits the bill perfectly. It's got a good plot, great setting and cute as fuck characters. Could it have been more spicy? Yeah absolutely but, I'm also a perv who needs more Calla-Jonah content. Definitely going to read more in the series!

“The Simple Wild” by K.A. Tucker —> 4/5⭐️s
I finally got my hands on the library copy of The Simple Wild and it was well worth the wait because I LOVED it.
The Simple Wild is about a girl reuniting with her estranged father who lives in Alaska and owns a charter plane company. The story is sweet and heartfelt and just the right amount of spicy with a “sky cowboy”
