I love to read, and in general it doesn't matter what age group a book is written for. If it's well written and interesting, I like it. Having said that, this book just felt way too young to me. It wasn't very interesting, and I didn't really connect with the story. And besides that, it was a little too happily ever after.

Hoffman doesn't disappoint in this sweet tale about how difference can be beautiful and what was once seen as a problem can also be a saving grace. With her gentle, deft hand she once again shows that the superstitious can be quite everyday and the everyday quite fantastical. Middle grade readers will enjoy.

It was a pleasant story and I liked the characters, but it just didn't wow me. I would have liked more focus on less plot. I felt like I didn't get to know any of the characters well.

Witchcraft is not something I usually enjoy reading about, but Alice Hoffman's writing is so good, I got pulled in and I loved it!
