I really enjoyed this book cover to cover. I was concerned that there were too many characters to keep track of but by the end of the book I was interested in each character’s fate. This book read to me very much like Desperate Housewives. A bunch of families on a street, each with their own secrets. An abusive husband, a husband lying to his wife, a traumatized wife, a vet with PTSD and a young couple with a meddling mother in law. This book is extremely well written and exciting without being the standard thriller.

It's been a few months since I read this book and this is a prime example of why I should write reviews faster. Here are my thoughts when I see this book on my list for 2o22:

1. Oh yeah! I read that.
2. I thought it was going to be YA for some reason but it wasn't.
3. I enjoyed it!
4. What's it about? Neighbors and someone's murdered?
5. I don't really remember...
6. I'm pretty sure it's a Liane Moriarty type of book so maybe fans of her will like it.

Hot damn this is very good. There is one mystery here, who dies? Then again, it is not a mystery mystery more like an explanation on how it got to that point... I just kept guessing which house it will be. Boy oh boy this novel was entertaining. I really felt like a fly on the wall and the pace was very fast. Additionally, I just love that this was written by a senior citizen.

Honestly feel that this would've been better if the POV was first-person. Other than that, I'm glad to have picked this one up!

Succinctly, all the men are flawed and all the women have problems-mostly caused by the men.

I think I expected more from Joy Fielding. I kept waiting for something to happen and it really didn't. Even the end was a bit of a let down. I kept getting confused with the people who lived on the cul-de-sac because I don't feel like there wasn't enough focus on someone to actually feel a connection.

It's pretty evident who gets shot quite early in the book as their transgressions are much worse than the others. Decent book with that is well written but the mystery falls flat.

An easy read. The dialogue flows well as if you were a fly listening to everyone’s conversations in the neighborhood. Relatable in ways d/t living at Canby. I enjoyed it for what it was

Great conceit--a reverse murder mystery. Let's try and predict who the corpse will be... However, rape, domestic violence, emotional abuse mixed in with everything else is too much. No one is particularly likeable. Also, Dani's solo visit to the shooting range would have encouraged a prosecutor to look more closely at that shooting.

Pointless book. Don’t know why I wasted my time.
