There was one big flaw in this book. When Dani goes to the shooting range, she is by herself and rents a gun. This is completely against federal laws. You must be accompanied by someone else to rent a gun at a shooting range.

This theme of "you never know what goes on behind the closed doors of your neighborhood" has been overdone on the psychological genre. Layer on a cast of unlikable characters, all with unoriginal secrets and loathing each other and you have Cul-De-Sac. Also, none of the characters had a particularly distinct voice, and the switches in POVs were not clearly delineated, so it was sometimes hard to know which POV we were in. I'm glad I did this one as audio, because I probably would've DNFd otherwise.

Joy Fielding writes juicy, gossipy novels. Life on the cul-de-sac is about to get interesting. The novel opens with a bang, literally. Gunshots ring out and surprise the residents of the cul-de-sac. But you don't know until the end of the novel who got shot. After the first few pages, the book goes back several weeks so you meet the residents. They are Nick and Dani, 2 doctors, and their sons. Maggie and Craig, separated, and their daughter and son. Julia and her grandson. Sean and Olivia and their kids. Aiden, suffering from PTSD, his wife, Heidi and his bossy mother, Lucy. All of these families have issues, ranging from domestic abuse, alcoholism, fear, and more. Plus, they each own at least one gun.
This is a quick novel, with some interesting story lines. I always enjoy a Joy Fielding novel. I simultaneously listened and read, and I enjoyed the audio narration.
