TW ~ bullying, sexual content, toxic (?) relationships

Abigail is the reject of her family and her high society. She is the black sheep that everyone likes to poke holes at. Her ex-friend and man she loves comes back as her bodyguard but he has every plan to get revenge on her by being cruel and torturing her through anyway possible.

I loved Abigail and Theo connection

Heartless Hero was Magnificent! This book is Everything a reader salivates for! I'm a huge sucker for Forbidden/Second Chance Romance and this book will really hit your heart! Our Heroine has a pension for trouble like nothing you have ever read before! my gosh, I was absolutely stunned and red with embarrassment for her! Abs, will have you cheering for her and cringing all in the same moment! I just couldn't stop reading, so engrossed in the devastating circus that is her life! Our hero is hell-bent on bringing our girl to her knees and he definitely makes it hard to love him in the beginning. So much has transpired between these two and happened in the background, Secrets, deals, promises, and agendas. The Princess and her Dog, neither willing to show weakness! Danger is also lurking around Abby. Where is the truth, what pieces are missing..."Uneasy is the girl who wears the name Crowne." I swear my heart was going into overdrive throughout this book! Never a dull piece, every bit ties together beautifully and leaves you needing to know what is next! Excitement, lust, tension, and betrayal, and so much more! I know, 100% this girl is going to have a book hangover and need some recovery time from this book! I loved it and couldn't be happier for my princess and the pauper! I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Is that a....flawed heroine you say? And her flaws don't consist of her being too selfless for her own good, you say?

DNF AT 58%. I HAVE A LOT OF ISSUES WITH THIS BOOK, MAINLY WITH THE WRITING.

For the first few pages, everything went so smoothly. However as I got into it the writing became so much as a jumbled mess. The delivery of lines just fell off. The author was trying to build up a heartbreaking scene but it fell flat then on to the next scene like the previous emotions she was trying to depict were nowhere to be read.

Even the stolen sexual scenes were described vaguely like the hero and heroine were in front of heroine's family stealing touches but nobody can see them, I mean how does that even work? Was there an invisible bubble around them then? Jesus it was an utter mess of story telling.

Theo and Abigail. So their love-hate relationship was because of miscommunication that ended them being 5 years apart and then surprise surprise they talked about it about 45% of the book for barely 5 minutes then the next thing you know they were going at each other in the next chapter. Again, poor story-telling and writing. Gosh, I'm done.

I didn’t think this was a bully romance when i picked it up. i’m not a fan of bully romances so to me this was hard to get through. i do think it was a good story though and can see people enjoying this

Heartless Hero is the first book in this series of stand alone, contemporary romance from the lovely author. Even hours from reading this book, I still haven't come up with words to fully describe the pain and angst of unrequited love or the star-crossed lovers vibe that Abby and Theo had.

I hurt for Abby. For the girl who has everything and the only thing that she really wanted was for her family to love her unconditionally. She is so misunderstood that I'm itching to jump into this book world to comfort her. You can blame the mother in me for feeling this strongly for her. It isn't until she found Theo that she had someone on her side, but that even isn't enough in her world. Man, I'm so rooting for them to be together. I wanted Theo to whisk her away from her family, who on the surface appears so cold and unfeeling, but I feel that there's still hope for them.

They have so much history and love between them and it really pains me, to the point that I cried, to the thought that they couldn't possibly be together. I'm a hopeless romantic, what can I say? Also, I'm a sucker to this kind of love story and Ms. Gebhard delivered and ticked all the boxes on my list. What a ride! I loved it and I couldn't wait to read the other sibling's story.

This was overall pretty good. Solid writing, plot and character development. I took off a star because Theo did literally NOTHING to make up for all that he put Abigail through. He was absolutely awful to her and didn’t grovel at all. And Abigail kept coming back for more. Zero backbone.
