The first half dragged on way too long. The second part could have been a standalone and was much more enjoyable.

The Fairy Bargains of Prospect Hill is the story of two sisters, Alaine and Delphine. They grew up learning about the fairies and how to bargain small trades to make their life’s easier : good harvest, good weather. Little by little they ask for more. But little do they imagine the true price of their trades.

This novel is just the sweetest thing. If, like me, you love Fae Lore and Folklore, you will fall in love with this book. I read a lot of them, so the whole story was quite expected to me, but I was really charmed by how Rowenna Miller weaved the whole story. I highly enjoyed how she mixed Fae Folk Magic, Historical Fiction and Feminism. It all works really well together. The world building and writing are both lovely and the siblings are great characters.

I wanted to like this book so badly, and in the end I did, but it was definitely a struggle. The beginning was very slow and not really what I was looking for, but I’m glad I pushed through, because the rising tension and climax were a very good pay off.
