I am really not trying to be hateful with that one star. I gave this book a sincere shot after having it on my to-read shelf since I was in middle school (I'm 27). I think I might have enjoyed it more had I read it then.
What is that saying? Ignorance is bliss or something? Having accumulated a taste for classics such as [b:The Starless Sea|43575115|The Starless Sea|Erin Morgenstern|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1554996038l/43575115._SY75_.jpg|66444785] and [b:The Secret History|29044|The Secret History|Donna Tartt|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1451554846l/29044._SY75_.jpg|221359], I cannot bring myself to stomach this book for another page.
The character development is non-existent and from the parts that I did read, Laurel (main character) spent the whole time complaining about magical things that happen to her. Which is completely unrealistic because if I suddenly sprouted wings, I would be thrilled!
And then she chooses not to tell her parents who don't believe an ounce in medicine might send her to a hospital to be tested?
I simply cannot.

Τρυφερό, ρομαντικό και με αυξανόμενο ενδιαφέρον!

At first I really liked it. Fast paced and draws you in. I think Laurel was a bit slow, (I knew they were wings as soon as I realized it was between her shoulder blades!)but I guess I have read a lot of fiction... Anyways **SPOILERS CAUTION!!** At the end, I was like, "YES! She chose David!!" but then she kisses the other guy and says she has to live in the human world and will come back someday. Then I'm like, "Wait, so she's choosing David because he's human and is going to dump him when she gets to go live with the faeries? That makes no sense." I like to think she chose David but I'm taking a star for the boy confusion at the end.

I really liked this book. It was cute and different. I hoped she would end up with Tamani, so we sill see how that pans out in the next books. I really hope that they will get together, because it just seems like a lame experience with David.

3.5 star rating, but I'll round down.

So, before reading it I thought that this was going to be another one of those cheesy romances that you commonly get in angel books (no offense, fans of the angel genre, but the romances in those books are just too obsessive). Surprisingly, the romance part of this book did not take over the rest of the book.

I would recommend it if you like love triangles, twists on supernatural, or paranormal books without so much of the obsessive romance. This one's an interesting twist on the faerie/fey/fae/fairy story (seriously, can't we pick one spelling?)

Wow. This book is totally different than what I thought it would be. I wasn’t sure what to think when I read the plot for the book but oh my god it was so good. Totally didn’t think that it was going to be about faeries and that they would be like they are in the book.

Aprilynne Pike is totally a great author and is good at spinning tales about faeries. Though the one thing that I didn’t like is this little love triangle thing that seems to be coming for Laurel, David, and Tamani. But then again what can I say it seems to be a thing for young adult stories and it actually does work quite well with the story. This whole book was really good. I finished it today and it was so good. It grabbed me from the first chapter and that usually means that this will be a book that I won’t be able to put it down unless I really needed to.

Anyways this book is really good and I’m giving this book a five butterflies. If anyone asked me about this book I would totally say it would be a great read especially if you like faeries. Even if you don’t like faeries it still is a good book and it’s totally something that I think a lot of people would love to read. Aprilynne Pike is a really good author and I am glad that I found this book.

Overall, I thought this book was entertaining. It is a little strange that Laurel, the main character, has this plant growing out of her back, but that's this author's take on fairies I guess. And there is the infamous love triangle - Laurel, David, and Tamani. Who will she choose, etc. I wish I had more to say, but it really just made me want to read Twilight again. I think I need to make a shelf on Goodreads for "books that make me want to reread Twilight." Wah. I'll continue this series though!

Loved this book. It is a cute, entertaining read, that was practically completely clean...something that is hard to find in the YA world.

I will definitely have to keep my eye out for the rest of the novels in this series.

The kind of book you can completely forget about until one day someone mentions fairies and you think, "didn't I read a book once where the girl was a fairy and they were all plants instead of animals? Huh."

It was a clever plotline, disguised just as cleverly in a slow plot and dull characters. The only one with any sparkle was Tamani. I liked that Pike made her main character beautiful and competent; it was a much-appreciated break from the norm.

This is the first book by Aprilynne Pike that I have read, and I must say I wasn't disappointed at all! I got a copy of this at the RT Convention back in May of this year. I've actually not really been a fan of fairy or fae stories. Not that I mind when they are in other stories, but I haven't actively sought out those types of stories. I'm finding more and more that maybe it is time to give them more of a chance. I gave this book a pretty high rating, 5 stars, on Goodreads because I picked it up this morning, and pretty much barely stopped until I was done late this afternoon. It was that good. As a former science teacher, I loved how this put science into the mythology behind fairies. Very unique to me, but again, as I haven't read a lot of this type of creature, maybe it's not.
