Stunning. Each sentence seems perfectly crafted. It took a little while to get into it, but that was probably to understand the world. I also think I appreciate how the characters developed over the course of the book, more than I like the characters who opened the book originally.

I especially appreciated the ending. I like how there wasn’t a definitive ending, but hope. I also like the unfinished nature of the sheriff’s story. Maybe he died; maybe he got reelected. But by not finishing his story, it’s like the narrative is taken away from him and focused on those who matter more.

No one writes like Karen Russell. Her sentences are so interesting, and I loved learning about Nebraska and two real weather events there.

Beautiful writing, interesting story. The one downside is that a major plot line needed more of a resolution.
