I actually think i like Nyktos/Ash and Sera way more than Cas and Poppy. The romance is so good but so frustrating at the same time. Trying to explain the plot of either of the series to other people is rather difficult tho lmao.
The worst part is starting fantasy series that has yet to be finished, and the idea of waiting for a happy ending for both of the couples, breaks my heart a little :((

I definitely got annoyed at the beginning, in the middle and huffy when I got to the end. But that didn’t mean I didn’t think it was worth it.
The feels are all there, the writing is great, and I was entertained. It was satisfying to read a trophy fantasy book that was well written.
I’d recommend it, but don’t expect ground breaking new fantasy territory.

I'll start with what I liked about this installment in the FBAA/ASITE series:
- Nyktos and Sera are the embodiment of enemies to lovers, and you just can't beat that.
- Slowly piecing together the connections between the past and present is really satisfying.
- The spice is 🔥
- Plenty of conflict and character development
- Sera is unambiguously plus-sized and still badass
What I didn't like:
- The use of modern words and phrases is starting to get annoying. It pulls me out of the story and disrupts the flow. One character actually said "I nope'd out of the chamber" 🤦🏻♀️
- There are so many side characters (primals, gods, godlings, etc) That I honestly can't keep track of who is who, their titles, and what they look like. People would die, and instead of being upset I thought "who was that again?"
- SO REPETITIVE. Things I'm tired of hearing:
•I don't know why but her use of the word 'clamped' got on my nerves (it's used 16 times in the book) if I heard "my mouth clamped shut" or "pressure clamped my chest" one more time I was going to lose it.
•"Are you reading my emotions?" IT'S OBVIOUS NYKTOS IS READING YOUR EMOTIONS SERA, YOU DON'T HAVE TO ASK EVERY FIVE MINUTES.

Just when the plot would get interesting sex got in the way. As a result, I was bored resulting in me having to put the book down many times which is not something I would normally do. Sera character was just silly and made no sense to me in this one. As a result, it took me over two weeks to finish this book.
