Probably my least favourite Richard Osman book, although I still enjoyed it. I think a lot of my problems lie in loving Thursday Murder Club and it’s characters so much that I can’t help wishing we had another book with them, but that doesn’t make this book any less fun. Where “Thursday” is very cosy, this mystery is more action packed - not a bad thing, although I did find it easy to work out who the bad guys were (in the first half of the book). Where Osman really excels is in his emotional connection to the characters, you develop such empathy for the characters that they become living and breathing so quickly. It’s a real strength he has there and it makes me come back to his writing every year.

This was absolute fun! It was zany, and zig-zaggy. It has a found family at its center, and on the outskirts are murder and double-crossing. I think this book might be a great book for people who are interested in Richard Osman, but don’t know where to start. This feels like a safer entry point than Thursday Murder Club. It’s slightly less British in its references and humor since its setting is between the U.S. and the U.K. All in all, I absolutely loved it!

I love this author, especially when I can listen to his writing with an excellent narrator.  This story jumps in with murders, money laundry, assassins-for-hire, and wonderful characters.

Great fun! A globetrotting mystery adventure with a quirky cast that includes a frighteningly competent body guard, her curmudgeonly ex-copper father-in-law, her high-rolling author client, plus bosses and bad guys, celebrities and wannabes, a cat called Trouble and a pub quiz team. You might have some of the mystery solved by the end, but Osman's writing is so compelling you'll read at a gallop and be happy for the ride.
