The Emperor is book 3 in the dark verse series. Though you could read the love story by itself you need to have read the first two books to understand the overall plot, otherwise, you'll have questions.

I adored Dante and Amara's story. I loved that we got a duel POV 🙌 and RuNyx gave us their back story from when they were children to the present day. Though it was incredibly hard to read about Amara's past, it was also a beautiful book. The lengths Dante will go to in order to protect and be with Amara, just makes me want to hug him.

As heartbreaking as it was, I was glad we got the earlier years of Amara and Dante. It added to their overall character arc and growth. It made previous books and interactions between them clearer for me. Though we could see they cared for each other, the frosty interactions make much more sense now. Those clever characters 😜

I really enjoyed getting inside Dante's head during his POV. So much comes together in this book, as well as seeing how he and Tristan became "friends" and their history.

For the overall plot, things certainly become darker and we get some leads on the missing children and some "help" to guide them in the right direction.

We also got some great plot twists (great probably not being the right word) but they certainly wow'd me!

The next couple of books will certainly be interesting as they follow different characters, atleast the next one does. I'll be reading them soon, but I'm currently taking a break as a few books I've read lately have been tough to read emotionally.

❗️This series gets darker with each book. There is a lot of emotional and physical trauma in this book, as characters deal with their past and current predicaments. There are also mentions and details of R/SA. RuNyx notes trigger warnings at the start of each books.

You’re not going to walk through life, Amara,” he uttered roughly, each word a vow that cemented itself in her heart. “You’ll dance through it. And I’ll fucking remove anyone who tries to break your rhythm. I promise you.

You cannot write a man like Dante Maroni and then expect me to not be ruined for everyone else

Dante Maroni, heir of the infamous Tenebrae Outfit, has been trained since birth. He has learnt to hide his ruthlessness beneath his charm, his savagery under his suits, and his love for one lady behind his quiet as a silent rebel in the shadows. Dante finds knowledge that shatters his world and causes him to play a dangerous game while infiltrating the Syndicate responsible for the abducted children.

Amara, the housekeeper's daughter, has loved Dante for as long as she can remember. She loses herself, her life, and her home as she knows it when she is abducted and abused at the age of fifteen. Years later, she's regained some kind of normalcy until her world falls again, compelling her to enter the game.

Mysteries are being solved. Secrets are revealed. And their youthful love is replaced by a profound connection, power, and survival. The hesitant king and the unavoidable queen engage in a game.

This was decent, but not TristanMorana good, you know? I enjoyed DanteMara, but their novel didn't live up to the high standards set by TristanMorana. I enjoyed the childhood pals to lovers motif in this novel, but I found the first section to be somewhat dull. The following sections, on the other hand, were incredibly good—if the novel had been that constant in terms of quality, this would have gotten a 4 star.

Amara was the top-notch character in this novel in my opinion. Her point of view was very wonderful to read. She was never into a gang like Tristan, Morana, or Dante. She was such a sweet person until something occurred. Her struggle to find love, not only for Dante, her mother, or Morana, but especially for herself, made me cry. She was one of the most well-written characters I've ever read, given her strength and fortitude.

i loved the friendships and relationships between the characters, dante kept shocking me so much that id just gape at the book, in a good way, and
i didnt mind the sudden pregnancy as it felt oddly right, considering the timing and eveything afterwards.
