Another excellent Green Valley Library book.
Wow! Each book in this series has an adrenaline rush. I love them. I still think book two is my fav so far, but this book was amazing!
This book involves the biker gang the Wraths again and man they are some horrible people. But what happens when you want out? Well read this book and find the struggles Drill goes through with the biggest decisions of his life. Will he make it out alive?
Overall this book is exciting and twisted. It is full of steamy romance and crazy danger. I highly suggest this series to anyone. Don’t let the name of the series lead you astray, this is no sweet butterflies book. It is nitty gritty.

I really enjoyed this book! I loved reading how Thuy was getting introduced to small town life. The unexpected attraction between Drill and Thuy. How Maddy and Thuy rallied to make sure Maddy could keep the farm. The times at the library were great. I loved reading how Thuy was helping a rural library be more helpful. Then ending, loved it!!
Wasn’t sure if I’ll like this one. I mean, a wraith and all, but Drill makes a good guy and Thuy is so cool. Want to know her.

Prose before Bro’s
Have you ever watched a movie with the blanket pulled up under your eyes because you just don’t know what might be coming next... and you want to be prepared to cover your face just in case? That was me with this book. Drill is an Iron Wraith and is getting exhausted from MC life. And the more you learn about what’s going on in his mind, it makes sense. The utter sweetness under his tough exterior made my heart ache many times. He is just so tired, and his sentimental, almost soft heart, is long ing for a family, and for belonging somewhere. It was just brutal to witness knowing what his reality in the MC was.
“Drills superpower was loyalty”
Loyalty is important to Drill, it’s why he joined the Wraiths, and Thuy is loyal to a fault to his sister, Maddy. Thuy is a unique heroine for sure. I don’t want to give away her secret- but- her life experiences mean that she understands Drill’s life better than most, and I loved her perspective on the MC life as a reader who doesn’t understand the life at all. She is also a librarian, and I loved her library interactions.
“He’s volunteering to read a book for you. She felt heat suffuse her cheeks. That might be the single sexiest thing a guy had ever offered to do for her, she realized.”
“His smile was slow and enticing... like he was just amazingly happy to see her.” Gah! Drill may be a little scary, but he’s also so darn sweet!
Maddy is a kind friend. Thuy and Maddy have a relationship that could seem co-dependent, but is really just steeped in love and absolute care for the other person. This was a book I was afraid to read, but I’m so glad I did.

“You know,” he said, his voice tinged with amused surprise, “I don’t think I’m as passionate about anything as you are about books.”
Prose Before Bros was a great addition to the SmartyPants Romance world and the Green Valley Library Series. I loved the characters Cathy Yardly imagined. Thuy is strong and fierce. I want to be her friend. I love her devotion to her friendship with Maddy and the way she advocates for Green Valley’s youth. I was amazed by how much I grew to like Drill as well. I was pleasantly surprised that an author could redeem Drill, or any Iron Wraith for that matter.
Prose Before Bros felt more story-driven than relationship-driven. That seemed to slow my reading down just a bit, but it’s an excellent story. There’s history, love, action, suspense, turmoil in our least-favorite motorcycle club, and a surprising resolution to the story’s main conflict.

Oh Drill and Thuy and so much introspection. I have never forgiven a character faster but Drill is totally the H who wins back my heart from being a nope not this guy. Cathy Yardley uses prose (see what I did there) to get me to understand Thuy, to accept Drill and his apologies, and to root for these amazing characters for which I laughed and cried and enjoyed this book so much I just cannot recommend this highly enough. Read this book.
Thuy is not only the main lady character of this book but really she is the badass of the whole book. She is Maddy’s best friend from college who helps her come back to Green Valley to take care of things after Maddy’s father dies. Thuy is the best friend all women of the world need! She let the town think they are together, willing to move to help with the baby, and I mean to even learn how to farm! I mean Cal to small town Tenneasse would be HARD! These two are a very fun “couple” to read about and love their friendship! This really made the book special!
Teddy aka Drill is Maddy’s big brother who comes home to see her since he left to join the Wraiths at 16. The Wraiths are the MC in town and well are not the best to say the least. It was hard to get to like Drill even if he reads for her and tries to help the girls, as I have a hard time with all the ugliness of MC culture. This is the one problem for me but I just thought of him as Jax from Sons of Anarchy, and it helped.
This was my first Cathy Yardley book, I loved her writing style as it had laugh out loud moments, quotes I just love, Thuy’s character is a gem, women friendship, adding some diversity into GV, and such strong female leads! Overall, I give this book a 4.5!
Also here are some gem book quotes:
“They are my favorite thing ever. They gave me a place to go when my life was shitty, and they have continually given me a reason to get out of bed in the morning. I read every single day. They’re my lifeline.” Cathy Yardley, Prose Before Bros
“We need to make books cool again. If you go home with somebody and they don't have books, don't fuck them.”-- John Waters

I think we all need a best friend like Thuy in our lives. Her character was my absolute favorite thing in this book. She's a bit of tough chick and the most loyal best friend there ever was.
Prose Before Bros
was another read by an author that's completely new to me. When it comes to Drill, I honestly don't have a lot recollection of him. Beard With Me
and Beard Necessities
have been my last reads of the Winstons within the past year. Since then, it has been a while since I've visited Green Valley. I think I need to do a re-read of the Winston Brothers
to jog my memory.
