Nope. This wasn't doing anything for me. First things first, the characters were blah but kudos for the author for introducing a diverse lead heroine. Otherwise there's not much to say about this read. It lacked depth, the storyline wasn't intriguing enough to draw me in and the characters were b-o-r-i-n-g. I dropped this like a hot potato because why waste time on a romance I'm just not invested in, ya feel me?

I really enjoyed this. I wasn't sure how things were going to play out with Drill as the hero seeing as how he was still a Wraith and there's a high price to leave the club but Thuy (pronounced Twee) was the perfect heroine for him since she and her own price paid ended up saving his life, her BFF and the farm.
Hoping to see more of Thuy as the series progresses along with all the changes she's set to make modernizing the library since she was made Head Librarian.

I loved Thuy and Teddy/Drill. Maddy was an awesome spitfire and I am glad she got her HEA too.

lighthearted

Thuy Nguyen comes to Green Valley with her heavily pregnant best friend Maddy. She's never lived in a small town before but she's willing to work the farm that Maddy inherited, even if her background is as a librarian. Maddy's biker brother Drill is trouble though in more ways than one, a bad boy that Thuy wants to be bad with.
We've met Drill before in the Winston Brothers series. He's one of the Wraiths, but he goes fishing with Hank and Beau and doesn't seem one of the especially bad bikers. I love Thuy. She's a tiny Vietnamese bad-ass librarian, and you can't get a much better heroine than that.
I have to admit I had no idea how Ms. Yardley was going to resolve the mess with the Wraiths (the biker gang in Green Valley but no spoilers). She does a great job at tying up all the loose ends though and I breathed a sigh of relief because Drill and Thuy belong together. And the sections at the library were a great addition to the story with Thuy getting a job there and wanting to help the teens utilize the library better. This is a wonderful Green Valley Library book that I really enjoyed reading.

READING CHALLENGE: 52 Book Club's 2022 Reading Challenge
PROMPT: #2- Featuring a Library
TITLE: Proes BEFORE Bros
AUTHOR: Cathy Yardley
SERIES: GREEN VALLEY LIBRARY (Book 3)
OWNED PAPERBACK since late 2019

I enjoy reading "Smart Pants Romance" books because it's like catching up with old friends who we were introduced to by Penny Reid.

The connection in "Proes Before Hoes" is that it takes place in Green Valley, TN. One of the settings is the library and it involves the ever evolving, always nasty,  Wraith MC.

Green Valley plays an almost villainous role in this story. It appears narrow minded, prejudice,  stuck in time,  and down right nasty.

I admired the female protagonist's strength and guts as well as her love of books.   I did not like the male protagonist - I could not connect with him.

This is the first book I've read by this author and I like the way she weaved the tale, I think if it wasn't set in Green Valley, I might have liked it more.

Drill and Thuy.
This is part of the smarty pants romance series that is linked to Penny Reid Winston brothers series.
If you are interested in the Wraiths etc it is an interesting perspective for that reason I gave it a higher rating than I wanted to.
Drill is bored with club life, the women etc so as a result there are no intimate scenes other than the Hero and heroine.

This one didn't work so much for me.

Plot spoilers below...

Why did Drill tell Catfish about the inheritance?
Anyone with any sense would think it would make them a target.
And the ending was too convenient, why did they use the reasoning earlier?

He was so non Alpha, going along with everything and a last minute conclusion.
They only got their HEA cos of the heroine imo.
HEA.

I listened to the audiobook and the narrators did a good job. I really liked the H/h and secondary characters. I enjoyed the storyline as it kept me engaged.

So I apparently I don’t know how to tell apart books, because I started reading this book before the first of the series. But let me tell you I wasn’t disappointed at all.
I was a little skeptical only because I didn’t know how it would turn out, if penny wasn’t brining these characters to life. But I was definitely pleasantly surprised by how much i did like this book, I believe that the characters had the right chemistry and they surprisingly caught and kept my attention. But can we talk about Drill ( never thought I would say that ) he became one if my favorite’s so quickly too and I was glad that I was able to read his story.

I would say that this book is definitely worth it and I can’t wait to see what other books are in this series.

Well crap, I got nothing done last night reading this book. I loved it.

The one with Thuy (pronounced like “ Twee”) the librarian from Oakland, and Drill, the biker gang member. It should NOT work, they don’t make any sense! But as we learn about Thuy’s backstory it comes together. We want Drill to be a good guy and I couldn’t see how this would be an HEA but the author pulls out a great ending that I read with one eye closed I was so nervous.
