I used this for the 2019 POPSUGAR Reading Challenge prompt "a book that is published in 2019." The writing was brisk and conversational, offering interesting insights to the author's background and views.

What an extraordinary woman. I'm so grateful to have been here for this. The book, like most political memoirs I've read, can be depressing as it addresses the tough issues of our time and these are depressing. It doesn't get lost in the minutiea the way some do (like Barack's, or some of Hillary's) and it just makes me happy that for this time, anyway, this is our Vice President.

Loved it! It was nice to hear about her journey through her career and the backstory about a lot of the things I’d heard bits and pieces like the Kavanaugh hearings and the night Clinton lost. Even more interesting hearing how she didn’t know for weeks that she won Attorney General considering people act like it’s such a far fetched thing when you count all the votes. Anywho, for a nerd like me I liked hearing all the political processes broken down in a way that was interesting a good informative. Great read!

Pretty standard political introduction book and it succeeded in it's intended purpose - you walk away liking Kamala Harris more than when you first started the book. She lists her political accomplishments and goals for further reform, wrapped up in some stories from her personal and professional life.

(I think she'd make a good VP pick for Biden and honestly, she's who I have my money on).

Edit: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have respected Ms Harris as a strong female leader. While I am familiar with many of her values, this book enabled me to learn more about what motivates her. I identified with many of her stories in my own professional career. If you are expecting a life story in the traditional sense, Harris' book is not that. It is developed with each chapter defining a different value and her personal stories interwoven.

This reads like a manifesto for a future president… There are long, serious, but inspiring chapters on the policies and campaigns that Kamala Harris has pursued passionately, as well as snippets from her life outside work. She’s clearly a very capable, fearless woman and that’s very exciting!
