I love a grumpy x sunshine romance. It was such a great way to wrap up the 6 books in this series. I love Calamity Montana!
This was so good!! I couldn't stop smiling for Wilder & Iris! 4.5 stars! I only wish the climax was better.
I was hooked from the first page. Devney knows how to write stories that have you addicted. Wilder is a grumpy high school teacher who likes his peace and quiet. His best friend needs a favor. In comes Iris, a tattooed free spirit who travel blogs. Add in some sparks that should be forbidden. I loved how drawn to each other Wilder and Iris were. Iris helped heal Wilder, helped him move on. Calamity Montana is a magical place. Can’t wait for the next book.

Another hit for me. I’m actually really excited that I have so much of Devney Perry’s backlist to get through because I love her writing.
When we first met Wilder in The Brawl I couldn’t believe he was getting his own book. Now I’m SO happy he did. Iris is his best friend’s little sister and an influencer in a family that doesn’t understand her lifestyle. She comes to Calamity as a part of her lifestyle series where she stays for 2 months at a time all over the world, where Wilder begrudgingly takes her in at her brother’s request.
The tension and yearning in this book! The two of them both fight their attraction for so long UNTIL they um…hear each other 😏 But it’s just sex right? Until Iris starts to settle into life in Calamity. Until Wilder can’t picture his nights without her.
I kind of love it when they’re in love with each other but both are too afraid to be the first one to say anything. Wilder is a widower and Iris is afraid he doesn’t want to move on from his wife, but there’s so much more to the story than that.
Coupled with some high school drama (he’s a high school science teacher, ofc there’s drama) and having to tell Iris’s brother about them, the two of them navigate the waters and figure out the answer to the question “Would you change your life for the person you love?”
They’ve quickly become one of my favorite Calamity couples and I cannot recommend this series enough.

DNF at page 19.
I couldn’t get past the part where she off handedly said she spent hundred of thousands of dollars on a Ford Bronco.
That sent me into a tailspin.
Why does she need a place to stay if she can afford to spend that kind of money on a car she barely drives because she often lives out of the country?
She’s obviously got loads of money if she’s wearing Gucci shoes and haemorrhaging money on gasoline. Why can’t she rent a palace to stay in?
Maybe this gets better, but I’ll probably spend the rest of the day not reading it, and googling how one could possibly spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on an old white Ford Bronco.
Maybe she’s an OJ fan….? Maybe it’s the car he did the chase in? That’s the only explaination.
Update: I found a website where they will custom build
your Bronco for $229,500.00.
A normal old one costs about $44,000.00

This story is so good. Iris and Wilder - Iris is a free spirited travel and beauty influencer that has been underestimated and misunderstood by her family since she was a good. Wilder is a high school science teacher that moved to Calamity after his wife died 10 years early. He’s grumpy and she’s unapologetically herself. He’s smitten by her immediately but plagued with grief and guilt. But they get each other. They don’t expect it to go the way it does but they are perfect for each other.
