Very few people unnerved me these days. But there was something about his dark gaze that made my heart race. Like he could see straight through my skin, to my very bones, and the insecurities I’d worked so hard to overcome.

Two months in Montana. Two months with Wilder Abbott. Two months to push a few of his buttons and boundaries. Hmm. Maybe this would be fun after all.

I had the house to myself. It should have been a relief. Wasn’t this what I wanted? So why didn’t it feel . . . normal?

If Wilder’s life was solitary, mine was too. Surrounded by people, followed by millions, and I was sitting at a coffee shop alone.

Sure, she asked thousands upon thousands of questions. She’d upended every single one of my routines. But still, it was easy. Like breathing. When she was here, it felt right.

🏘 small town
🤭 age gap (H35/h25)
😛 Brother's best friend
🏠 forced proximity

“What do you want?” In the end, it didn’t matter what I wanted. If her wings took her flying to the other side of the world, then I’d find a way to grow wings of my own.

I wasn't sure how much I'd like this book cause personally I'm not a fan of the MCs have a dead ex trope in books. But I tried anyways cause it's been a long time for Wilder and early on reading I sensed something wasn't what everyone assumed...

But yes! I enjoyed this one a lot! Super cute. Quick read. All the cute 🥺

I loved the grumpy sunshine here. Wilder wasn't really an asshole like we thought from Lark's POV. He really was just misunderstood and is naturally introverted and reclusive. With Iris, he cared a lot and was super protective. And initially he was avoidant because of his intense desire for her 🤭 Iris was the sunshine with her endless questions and curiosity. I loved how Wilder always indulged in her questions.

They really brought out the best in each other. Wilder helped Iris finally feel like she has a home with his easy acceptance of her as is. Iris helped Wilder open up more about his feelings. 🥺 I really loved all their spicy moments along with their cute hangouts on the couch on the weekends with bookish Wilder reading and Iris doing her influencer thing.

Not to mention, Wilder's cute little jealous streak of throwing her ex's t-shirts in the trash and literally taking the shirt off his back to replace them 🤭 love it. And his protectiveness of Iris. Chef's kiss. He was right on. He didn't care who it was, nobody is messing with Iris 😤

Iris deserved better than her stupid family 😭😭 and the town teens? Yea they got off easy. 😒 so did her brother and his wife. I'm glad she has Wilder who loves her unconditionally though. And Wilder's parents. 🥺

I think this is the end to Calamity Montana? 🥲 such a great comfort series to say goodbye to. I'll have to revisit in the future.

Well that was book 300 I’ve read in 2023 and what a book! I love this series so much and maaaan I love wilder. Only slight annoyance was how lame Iris’ self discovery of her feelings was. Otherwise this book was everything I wanted it to be

Hot & Heavy

I loved this book! Iris & Wilder were just the perfect age-gap/brothers best friend/grumpy-sunshine trope couple ever. I loved seeing characters from other books in this series pop up too. Such a heartfelt read.

The little bit we'd seen of Wilder in previous books had me feeling so curious for his book. And overall I'd say the road to his HEA was an interesting, fun ride. I really liked the dynamic between him and Iris - she was so unapologetically herself and I loved her for it. So did Wilder and I couldn't ask for more from a hero. There was also great steam in this book which was just an added bonus. Some aspects of the external conflicts were a miss for me but overall this was an engaging read.
