Wilder loves so hard
Wilder Abbott agrees to let his best friend’s younger sister stay with him for 2 months. He is reluctant to do so because he enjoys his privacy more than just about anything. Iris Monroe lives in one place for 2 months at a time as an influencer. She decides her next location should be Montana and her brother asks her to stay in Calamity with his best friend to check on him. Iris and Wilder form a relationship that works for them but they have to decide if there is anything worth pursuing when Iris’s 2 months are up.
Wilder is BROODY! He may deserve to be a little broody but he stomps around to everyone. I loved seeing him begin to question his approach to others once Iris calls him on it. I also loved seeing Iris call Wilder on his broodyness(that’s a word right?). The way Iris would ask questions all the time to Wilder forced him to open in and in doing so, he also got to know Iris. Maybe even better than her family and that meant so much to her. Iris needed someone like Wilder to stand by her side and support her. I really appreciated getting to see Wilder become more comfortable with Larke from The Brawl. It was such a small moment in the book but it was a detail only Devney can do. I am so sad to be leaving Calamity for the last time.

Just yes
Iris and Wilder!! My favorite couple in this series! I was already hooked with it being a small town romance because those are my weakness but adding in brothers best friend and grumpy MMC, just perfection. Iris is a social media influencer that stays in one place for two months at a time and has a calling to go to Calamity after hearing about it from her brother, whom arranges for her to stay with Wilder his best friend. She hasn't seen him since she was a kid and was not sure what she was going to get when she agreed to stay. Iris brother Danny calls in his long owed favor with Wilder to let Iris stay for the two months so that he could try and talk some "sense" into her while keeping her safe. Wilder moved to Montana after losing his wife to a horrible accident and pretty much keeps to himself. He really.didn't want to have Iris stay with him but a favor was owed and he figured he could avoid her most of the time. He was wrong! She is sunny, full of life and pulls him in even though he fights it, he can't be attracted to his best friends little sister, one that is 10 years younger then him. Iris is equally as drawn to him but fights it as well because of her brother and she's leaving in two months. One shower changes their relationship for good and their relationships with the people around them.
Just read this book! It is absolute small town perfection!!

Grumpy-sunshine at its finest!
I loved Iris and Wilder - the wandering influencer and the grumpy widower. Forced proximity and stubborn determination leads to a sizzling connection and mutual understanding in this fantastic addition to the Calamity Montana series.

This was such a good palate cleanser and to be honest I'm just trying to finish series that I'm currently in the middle of. But I really enjoyed this book (despite picturing Wilder as a scrawny teacher despite the descriptions we're given of him). I wasn't a big fan of the Sadie kind of storyline. But I did love the forced proximity, tension vibes. And the setting, I think Devney Perry does small town romances so well and this one was the same, the perfect cozy vibes.

I liked it. BUT.
There wasn’t enough connection & backstory for me. I completely forgot what series this was and mistook it for another Devney Perry Montana based series. That’s on me, but also this book didn’t connect enough to the rest of the towns people for me to realize what series it was.
Overall, it was enjoyable. Iris and Wilder were cute together, but this book felt quick. There wasn’t a lot of interactions with them outside of their home, and it felt rushed along.

Kinda loved not having so much suspense in this last Calamity book. Iris is so special. A fantastic finale to this series!!
Something about these small town romances reads just like a warm hug. As a teacher myself I did smell the plot twist from a mile away, but helllo look at the cover, we can't blame her
I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about this book since I wasn’t a fan of Wilder from the last book and I really don’t do well with the dead wife trope (I can go into heavy detail why I don’t love this trope for the most part) but I it’s Devney Perry so I wanted to give it a try anyways and turns out it was a good idea.
Wilder is broody and grumpy and pretty much a recluse aside from going to work and Iris is literally the opposite, never moving and just always putting herself out there and yet somehow they’re a match made in heaven and I do feel like the book gets you to believe that.
I liked the pacing, it’s definitely faster burn with insta-lust but so much fun. There’s tiptoeing around the whole dead ex situation but Iris is super respectful of the situation and we do get a reveal on why it seems like Wilder just can’t let go and it’s not at all the reason I was thinking lol
I do feel like this didn’t really make me a fan of this trope and didn’t really convince me that it’s a trope that needs to exist but I also didn’t hate it.
There’s some other drama that surrounds his students since he’s a teacher and honestly it felt unnecessary to me and little predictable and drawn out. Also the situation with Iris’s brother just irked me and I can’t get over it even tho they do lol
Overall it was a fun easy read and while I may still not care for dead ex as a trope I can now say I do like Wilder.
