I love the Calamity Series and this book was no different. Wilder and Iris are forced to be around each other when Iris’ brother tells her she can stay at Wilders house for two months. The attraction is instant and they both try to fight it. Wilder has no plans to be around people any more than necessary nonetheless be in a relationship. Iris is so steady in who she is yet does still wish to be understood and accepted by her family. Together and individually they deal with their issues which only strengthens their budding relationship. This book will warm your heart and make you smile through the whole book. I’m intrigued to see if we will get more from Calamity, if so I can’t wait!

I loved this addition to the Calamity Montana series!

I ate up this grumpy/sunshine, age gap, small town romance.

Wilder, the ultimate grumpy science teacher and Iris, the sunshine influencer, had my heart from the beginning. I love how these two balance each other out and allow the other to shine and be their true self.

I’m a huge Devney Perry fan and The Brood is another slam dunk!

I loved the concept of this book.
Iris as a character was absolutely amazing. She felt very unique. She had very realistic struggles. And I loved her energy all throughout the book. And if anyone was going to bring Wilder Abbott out of his shell it was definitely her.
Grumpy grump Wilder was very entertaining. I laughed out loud at him giving his students detention simply because he was in a bad mood. I also loved his change as a character. But he also didn’t change completely which I liked.
The spice was really good! Their was instant attraction between the two of them and you could definitely feel it. I also liked how they slowly helped each other to heal as much as they could.
I didn’t really feel the connection to Calamity with this one though. Yes they were living there and they went to the famous places we’ve come to know and love but I didn’t get the small town vibes as much as I would’ve liked too.

swoon worthy

No one does small town romance like Deveny Perry. Grumpy/sunshine, age gap & brothers best friend. This is a masterpiece ❤️

Like every small Montana town this author creates Calamity is one that I want to visit and live in and know its inhabitants. The Brood is a wonderful addition to this series!

Wilder is grumpy and enjoys his quiet time alone to brood. Iris lives two months at a time and loves to ask questions. These two opposites are just what the other needed. He grounds her and she opens him up. I loved these two together and their story was so well written!

This book was everything I needed it to be and more.

✨ grumpy x sunshine
✨ brothers best friend
✨ age gap
✨ forced proximity

Wilder Abbot loves his solitude, as a high school teacher he’s looking forward to his weekends and summer vacation when his best friend calls about his little sister needing a place to stay for her 2 month stay in Calamity, wilder owes him a favor so he agrees to let Iris stay. Not realizing Iris has grown to be a tattooed bombshell he saw in the grocery store. Now he has to find someone to stay away from her this summer but being in such proximity to his biggest temptation leads these two to crossing lines and becoming more. But Iris has 2 months before she’s on her next great adventure.

As always Devney did not disappoint. Wilder was so grumpy I loved him from the other books and devoured him in this story. He had a sad past that led him to hiding away in Calamity to find a place of peace until Iris bursts into his life full of color and sunshine making his gloomy world brighter and brighter everyday.

I love that most of this book takes place just the two of them. Learning and exploring each other and becoming one another’s peace in the world. Iris is lost and not sure that she has a home or place that is hers when Wilder gives her a soft place to land and a place to discover what she wants next in life.

I love that these two seemingly give each other the safety and calm we all look for in life. They balance each other in the most perfect way. The tension between these two in the beginning was my favorite and I think I cackled every time Wilder had to run away from Iris.
