A quick read, but surprisingly impactful! Novel setting, good characters, lots of humor, some romance. Hints of a fascinating world, but doesn't get too distracted by its own setting.

I definitely recommend reading Clockwork Boys and this in quick succession, it's really one story split between two books.

I liked this book it has nice world building and characters (especially the gnoles), but I think the end could have been so much MORE.

Like they were criminals, there was a war going on against this machines nobody understood, a scholar was missing, they had this eating flesh tattoos and were on a suicidal mission and they just solve everything and leave the city and that's it? They traveled with Learned Edmund without giving him any explanations about Brother Amadai? And the report to the Dowager? And what about the Dreaming God people knowing Caladin was touched by his God again?

It was not bad but the book had so much potential.

I don't know what to say except chef's kiss 😘 💋. This book series is perfect.

After finishing this book and this series I’m sad that there isn’t more to read. It was such an enjoyable read and I wasn’t excepting everything that happened at the end.

The main characters are what made the story so much fun to read for me. They had so diverse and fun personalities, and the growth they went thru throughout the story was interesting to follow along and read about. And I also really liked the world building and how everything was described in this book.

Continued enjoying this book, even with me being spoiled on a few details by the later Saint of Steel series in the same world, but as noted in my last review I do wish this and Clockwork Boys had been released as one larger book.
