Oh the romance part was annoying. The two of them really deserve each other. Both are insufferable. If I had known this was a romantasy, I would have stopped reading after the first book, which I really enjoyed.

Learned Edmund and Brenner were my favourite characters.

All the other characters seemingly had one purpose, which was to remind the reader how cool Slate is and how handsome Caliban is ...and that they really need to sleep together.... ngaaaaah

This and clockwork boys shpuld have been one book. The story is really just one. The reveal at the end wasn't really foreshadowed and and made for some unnecessary drama.
