I was a bit disappointed with this. First of all, I thought it was going to be an autobiography. But I guess the misunderstanding was my fault. Otherwise, this book is just a bunch of inspirational quotes (said by other people) and then Demi explaining them. Yes, they are very wise passages. And yes, we should live by what they say. But in the form of a book like this, it came off as really cheesy. And plus, and this is just a personal preference, but I really only like inspirational quotes when the specific situation demands for them, so when I read it now, when I'm in not in that sort of situation, I get pretty bored pretty easily. I think you're supposed to read it one passage a day, but hey, if I have a book, I want to read it for as long as I want to. No disrespect towards Demi, of course. I think she's a brilliant person who inspires me. I just didn't like this book.

I am a fan of Demi's music and I like that she's an advocate for mental health -- however I can't fangirl for this book. The book is VERY cliche and VERY vague in the goals and quotes. I was expecting more. They're lines you've heard a million times before like 'follow your dreams' and 'don't compare yourself to others'. I tried to do it one day at a time, but I wanted more. So I often found myself reading ahead and reading backwards sometimes too. She's had such an interesting life and career with some unique challenges for someone her age. It's a shame she didn't get to personalize this more. I'm sure Demi has some amazing stories that are inspirational as well. It's unfortunate that they didn't come across in this book. Next time she should write a memoir or a book specifically about her life challenges and how she overcame them with tips and advice for young people. I'd definitely read that.

This book has been on my shelf for a decade…literally.
So 2024 was the year I decided to finally read it.
Each page has a quote and then Demi provides her thoughts on the quotes meaning, or how to apply the sentiment to your life. To be honest, I didn’t read Demi’s thoughts most of the time.
I tabbed/highlighted a ton of quotes in this, so I will update this review with some of my faves.
Overall, it’s a nice collection of inspirational type quotes from all kinds of people. Musicians, actors, philosophers, authors, etc

This book is meant to be read one page a day, I of course being a "Lovatic" went ahead and read the entire book and it was great! Demi starts the book with an aspiration followed by a personal experience and why she loves the quote and how it helped her. Then she leaves a "Goal." Something for the reader to accomplish that day. She has overcome a lot and it was nice to read about what she's gone through and what it took for her to get to where she is today. This may be a bias review but I do highly recommend this book to those who may be struggling in life or even those who are not but can use a pick-me-up every once in a while.

Okay first off, I was only able to get a third of the way into this before I had to give up for my own sanity. I say this despite having literally finished a 500+ page book I hated last week; like, I do not give up on books and I gave up on this.
This book is absolutely horrible. Every one of the 365 'chapters' is about five sentences: a quote, followed by Demi saying something vaguely related to or explaining simple quotes, and then a random goal even more loosely related to the quote. There were maybe 10 distinct pieces of advice in the 130+ pages I got through. This gets super repetitive super quickly, and also just has some weirdly bad advice and weird lessons.
I love Demi, but this is just terrible. What would have worked better was is they just had a longer, more coherent entry for each month with a mini essay about how they learned the lessons they're sharing. Granted, that would have been far more work than this disaster, but even one chapter per week would have been better than this.
Worst quotes from the book (admittedly out of context, but I promise the context can't save these):
"Whenever I feel mad or disappointed with someone, I remember that they were once a child."
"I don't tell myself anything I wouldn't tell a four-year-old."
(in a section about facing fears) "I was afraid of vomiting. Then, I became bulimic."

”Be grateful for your journey because It is yours alone”
Demi Lovato wakes up each morning and affirms her commitment to herself—to her health, her happiness, her being. Those commitments are the bedrock of her recovery and her work helping other young people dealing with the issues she lives with every single day.
Demi is a platinum-selling recording artist whose latest album—DEMI—is already a smash hit. She’s about to embark on her second season as a judge on X-Factor, and just launched The Lovato Treatment Scholarship Program. And she is an outspoken advocate for young people everywhere.
Demi is also a young woman finding her way in the world. She has dealt deftly with her struggles in the face of public scrutiny, and she has always relied, not just on friends and family, but daily affirmations of her self-worth and value. Affirmations that steady her days and strengthen her resolve.
Those affirmations have grown into STAYING STRONG, a powerful 365-day collection of Demi’s most powerful, honest, and hopeful insights. Each day will provide the readers with a quote, a personal reflection and a goal.
These are Demi’s words. Words she lives by and shares with the people she loves and total strangers alike. They are a powerful testament to a young woman standing up and fighting back
I have been fan of Demi Lovato, since Disney years. I own most of her CD’s as well. Of course when I found out that she wrote a book, I had to check it out. I had STAYING STRONG: 365 DAYS A YEAR on my Nook for couple years but didn’t get around to reading it till recently. Now that I had, I wished that I have read it sooner that I had. It was unique, and unlike any of the books, memoirs that I had read before. To me, it felt more like an advice, encourage book. Demi went through tough time, and I feel like it could inspire a lot of others out there, cause it is likely that they gone and dealt with the issues that she had dealt with. Like Demi, I had dealt with bullying and depression earlier in my life, so in a way I knew how she was feeling. I felt like I could relate to her, even though I don’t actually know her but once I read the book, I felt like I did. Reading STAYING STRONG: 365 DAYS A YEAR I realized how tough she had it, but she didn’t give up, she kept on going.
I loved all those goals that she posted at the end. I feel like this book could be Self Help book as well. Despite the mixed reviews about this book, there wasn’t anything that I didn’t like about it. I was hooked from the first page, till I reached the last page. There was part of me that felt that I got to know her more after reading the book. I also loved the cover, just looked at it, It’s beautiful in every way, just like the novel was. I did not want to put it down, not till I reached the end. It had me thinking as well. Right now, I am going through a bit of a tough time and in a way STAYING STRONG: 365 DAYS A YEAR , it helped me a bit. Demi has a way with words that you can’t help but think about them afterwards. I know that I was.
Unforgettable. Inspirational.

I tried to read this the way it's supposed to be read daily but that ended up actually being me remembering it every several weeks or month or so and catching up. After a while it all seemed like the same old same old advice and cliche inspirational quotes. I still think some of it could really be good to hear especially for Demi's young fans but overall this wasn't the best for me and it kind of became this chore I'd remember every once and a while.
