I think ordinarily I would have given this 4 stars because it’s a little predictable and ties up a little too nicely. That being said though, I loved every second of it. I love Eleanor, I love Raymond, I loved every scene. It hits on some heavy themes and it gave me a lot to think about. I enjoyed the therapy scenes... it almost felt like free therapy for me! I overall really enjoyed this and would happily recommend it.
“The voice in my own head—my own voice—was actually quite sensible, and rational, I'd begun to realize…
I was getting to quite like my own voice, my own thoughts. I wanted more of them. They made me feel good, calm even. They made me feel like me.”
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Eleanor Oliphant is a socially awkward woman that starts to break out of her shell when she meets her coworker Raymond and starts crushing on a local musician.
I really enjoyed Eleanor’s growth and watching her strict routines fall as she got more comfortable with herself and started to face her trauma and find her voice.
Though there are a lot of heavy themes in this book, I really enjoyed the quirkiness and often found myself smiling and laughing out loud.
TW: Child abuse, SA, alcohol abuse and suicide
