If you mix “The Summer I Turned Pretty” with “Dear John” and turn that into a 2009 Rom Com… you get this book!
Drew Wilson (bottle-blonde broken pop star) is falling for Dr. Joshua Bailey (7 ft tall brooding big-dick MD)… but the only problem is… she’s in a situationship with his loser little brother Six (indie rockstar stoner). Throw in the Bailey’s cancer-sick mother and cheating work-a-holic father.. and things get cliche & chaotic. The story starts off at a vacation resort in Hawaii… and ends with a HOSTAGE SITUATION at a (white savior) Somalian war camp! kinda crazy… and clearly written by a white woman.
When Drew and the good doctor Josh have to snuggle up in a tent to escape the freezing pouring rain, I was swooning! When he comforts her asthmatic-panic attacks and beats up Six cause he forgot her inhaler.. I loved it UGH. The height & age difference between the two paired with the forbidden romance vibe is to-die-for! Most importantly, this book has made me realize- since I’m a panic prone hypochondriac… I should probably marry a doctor.
white savior trope unfortunately

I requested an audio review of this book and I'm so glad I did. Because this was really good. There was a few more unlikeable characters for my liking, mind you, but the slow burn, enemies to friend to more vibes, the ex's brother taboo aspect, the banter, all of it was immaculate. I really enjoyed how Josh didn't back down over anything. He goes truly above and beyond...for a pastry! And once Drew gets her backbone...man does she use it! Will Be checking out more by this author for sure.

I really enjoyed this one. Lots of adventure. Lots of emotions. Lots of I hate this character moments. I really loved Drew and Josh. Loved their journey.

pretty good, one of the best romances I've read, plotwise too! I swear these books would be much more popular if it weren't for the cheap ass looking covers lol
