4.25 âïž I am so glad I did not give up on this book based on what it thought of the first because I loved this. I love Drew and josh together and was rooting for them from the beginning. I honestly couldnât stop reading. Their relationship developed beautifully!!
I want to say 4 stars but I really want to say 3 so we'll go 3.5 stars.
I loved the book up to about 50% then I was like where are we going from here??
I didn't love the conflicts after that and female main was irritating imo.

With her 'Devil' series, author Elizabeth O'Roark is making me second-guess the things I thought I hated in romance novels. From other man drama and forbidden love (ex-boyfriend's brother) to rockstar romance, there are several elements of this story that I wouldn't normally go for. Yet, I absolutely loved this one.
The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea is Drew's story. She's a rock star who befriends Tali in Devil in Disguise, book one in the series. I loved getting to know her better and learning about her background. Reading all about grumpy hottie Joshua Bailey was no hardship either.
This series is quickly becoming one of my recent favorites. I'm so eager to read more.

I think there is something really beautiful about reading a book where someone falls in love with a character who has all the same fears and self hatred as you do. Connecting to women characters in the silly romance books I read is what gets me through life. And the most important aspect of this is watching Drew learn to forgive herself for things that were out of her control, but also forgive herself for her own mistakes, and to learn how to heal the inner child who just wished they were taken care of. In my head, her and josh are real people and he gives her the love sheâs always deserved and everyday she is learning more that she isnât this hated mess but a person who was in pain because this world⊠is shitty sometimes!!!!
And also the book is just so hot. The angst is crazy. Had to put the book down a few times to take a deep breath. Loved it <3

While I liked this couple, I did not like them as much as the first book's MCs. But it made for a perfect Sunday night read.
