The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea (Devils #2) by Elizabeth O'Roark -– This series is on kindle unlimited. I mean you knew that Josh and Drew were going to pull the enemies to lovers card, but I was here for every moment! Sometimes when you tell a hard story from your past like a joke hoping everyone will laugh with you instead of burst into tears on your behalf. This book felt like that in the best possible way! This series is gunning for my favorite of the summer! Happy Reading!

Loved me some Joshua Bailey!
But the stories in this series are reading the same now i.e. getting repetitive.. problematic parents, problematic exes,.. traumatised MCs, it's a bit much.
Nice read overall.

Elizabeth O' Roark is so consistent, and I always enjoy when I pick up one of her books. I've bounced around this "Devil" series, and this may be the favorite. Characters were complex and had their own shit to work out in addition to their romance. Angsty and emotional in the best way, and the tension pays off!

Hmmm, I am not sure what to with this because on the one hand, I really enjoyed it, on the other there were a few things that rubbed me the wrong way. The first half was great, the only thing that I didn't like was there were occassional jokes(?) that didn't hit (rascist comments, and I remember a random necrophilia joke?), and the book is only partially aware, that some things cross a line while at other times this self-awareness isn't there, Idk, it was an odd mix. The second half...once they are both back in their work lives, there's this one scene where Drew decides she's gonna visit Josh in Somalia...idk, I found the whole sequence very weird and very rich entitlement...it didn't hit. Maybe it was supposed to be romantic or whatever but I didn't like it. The whole energy was weird in that last third/quarter?.
