What a wonderful story! As a child it was my favorite LH book for the romance. As an adult I appreciate the teaching section more and more. Laura's world is expanding and changing. This book just makes me happy.

I am so addicted to these books again! I want them to go on forever! Alas, I know the next is last in the series.
I felt that in this book, Laura really tried to sum things up and kinda move on to her own life with Almanzo. However, it could have been that she was really busy during this time in her life and kept leaving home. And I still cannot fathom her responsibility at such a young age. It would be unfathomable to have a 15 year old teaching school today. I just love this time period, the way that Laura explains it all and especially how she was such an independent girl when society shoved her to be dependent. Such a great read! Finished it in one day.

These are the stories I remember the best and I really enjoyed rereading Laura and Almanzo falling in love.
Such a wonderful book as Laura is older, allowed to teach school and old enough to fall in love. Great descriptions of how the times on the new West claims really were while new people came to town to grow the area. I mainly loved story between Laura and Almanzo—how even though he is much older seemed more shy to dating than she was. Very sweet and innocent courting between them. I didn’t want to put the book down!
