I loved this book. The concept and setting were very novel and interesting, with a science fiction-esque time travelling ability. But it’s written like literary fiction, and is the story of a young girl reaching adulthood and making important decisions that will affect the course of her life. Let me be very clear: it’s written like GOOD literary fiction, no MFA first novel with the seams showing here. I’m surprised it’s the author’s first novel, because the writing is so good, and the characters are very real and coherent.

It was an interesting premise. I genuinely thought for a good bit of the book that it was just going to be more of a thought-provoking novel. All in all, it was just okay. I enjoyed Part I more than Part II. I will say that I think the narrator for the audiobook may have contributed partially to my rating. Her voice was just monotone enough that I easily zoned out. However, seeing some other reviews, apparently the book does not have any quotation marks, which sounds confusing and possibly frustrating so maybe I am glad that I had this as an audio.
