It was alright. I just felt that Iris took the piss adding a fourth when they struggled sharing her already. It felt a bit disrespectful, think would have preferred a follow up book with Quentin having his own story but I have to say when they did do it it was hot and that last family night was chefs kiss.

I enjoyed Four last year and was really looking forward to Five - I had to know what was going to happen with the Blacks that they’d end up with an addition to the group!

Right off the bat, I was really excited to see that the book is written in multiple POVs! Since Four was told exclusively from Iris’s perspective, I couldn’t wait to see things from another POV. There’s so much happening in this book that it was really great to have all of the characters telling us what was going on/how they were feeling about everything. The plot of this book was really interesting and kept me reading, but I didn’t love everything else.

My biggest complaint in Four was that Iris was very naive when it came to her father’s business and that she acted really immature. I was hoping she would have grown up a bit in the two years since Four, but I was really disappointed that that wasn’t the case. She’s lived with and trained with three assassins for two years but still reverts to being overly emotional and making snap decisions that put her and the guys in danger over and over again. She hasn’t grown at all as a character and continues to be the weak link in their group even though she insists on doing everything with them as an equal. The only thing that I enjoyed about Iris was seeing how much the guys loved her in the chapters told from their POVs.

The Black men in this book were a little more interesting as they’re starting to figure out what living together as a family looks like with Iris around. They’re still working out what their relationship looks like as father and brothers, but they’re getting closer. Even though Silas continues to be protective of his sons, Baron and Gabriel insist that they can handle themselves and that confidence ends up putting Gabriel in a dangerous position when a job goes sideways.

I really wanted to know more about the addition to the group. I loved his nerdy persona and everything that he was hiding underneath that. The little bit that we got of him interacting with Iris and Gabriel was really sweet, but I felt like Iris made the decision that he had to be a part of their group really quickly, especially since so much of their time together was while she was being held captive with him.

Overall, Five was just okay for me. I really enjoyed the men, but felt like I was suffering through every chapter told from Iris’s POV. I wanted to love it - if you’re not as put off by Iris as I am and like taboo reverse harem stories, you will definitely enjoy this one.

Iris has become a force to be reckoned with. When one of her men going missing she stops at nothing to find him, and maybe add another along the way.

I love a good harem story and this one delivered! As the second in a duet I was curious to see how the family evolved and loved that there was tension over sharing Iris. At points I was a little annoyed with the characters, but ultimately I adore each of them and would 100% read another book about them!
