I thought this one was definitely an upgrade from the first book. We got a deeper look into what was happening with the โ€œbaddiesโ€, and even added a new, nerdy guy to the mix.

The ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ was still great, and there was a good amount of it, including a few group scenes. ๐Ÿฅต

The guys became more and more accepting of the โ€œstrangeโ€ dynamics of their family, especially Gabriel. I think it helped having more POVs in this book, so we could see what was going on in each of the guys heads, but I still felt we were missing some crucial aspects of Gabrielโ€™s journey to acceptance; the flip seemed a bit sudden and without explanation to me.

Otherwise, these books were fun, sexy, and quick reads, if youโ€™re looking for a dark mafia RH romance to pass the time or get a quick fix!

โ€œThis is us. This is who we are.โ€

So we pick up a few years later and not only has Iris found a way to control the Black men, but now sheโ€™s also a trained assassin. The relationships she has with Silas, Baron, and Gabriel are different in their own way, but the one thing thatโ€™s similar is how much they want and need her. Thereโ€™s a little bit of a power struggle amongst the men, but Iris has a way of calming all three.

Baron and Gabriel are still trying to prove themselves to Silas and are struggling with his constant micromanaging of the family business. But Silas has to put his foot down when it comes to a sketchy job. Gabriel isnโ€™t having it and goes off on his own to prove himself. He walks right into a trap and comes to find himself struggling with where he belongs. We get a look into Gabrielโ€™s past and who he actually is. But of course Iris couldnโ€™t let him go alone..

Silas and Baron are determined to get them both back but it seems almost impossible at times. But when they do get to Iris and Gabriel, they now have some extra baggage.

The men are so willing to give Iris whatever she wants and needs that their family ends up growing by one. I love these characters. I love Iris and how she takes what she wants. There are some steamy scenes that are quiteโ€ฆexhilarating (CHAPTER 34 & 44). I was and still am Team Daddy Silas.

Sara Cate and Rachel Leigh bring us back to Iris and the Blacks. Silas, Baron, and Gabriel! You must read Four before this book, as we get to know all of these characters in it.

When one of the Black crew does a job without a back up some crazy things happen. Iris and the other guys will do anything to get him back.

We find out secrets about one of the Black's past. Will the Black's be able to recuse their missing family member before it's too late? Will the other members lives become in jeopardy trying to save them. When Iris meets someone else will the other members be ok if she wants him to join their crew?

I loved every minute of this book I loved getting to know Iris and all of the Black's in the first book, but I really enjoyed getting to see their lives again!

Five is the sequel of the Standalone Four. Gabriel goes missing and the familyโ€™s is now on a hunt.

As my previous review, love the storyline and the characters but unfortunately the Taboo perpective is not for me.

This is book 2 in the Black Hearts Duet.

I am conflicted with this book. The first one was great and had a great ending. This book goes more in-depth with Gabriel and his backstory. I really don't feel like this book is needed, Four could have been fine as a standalone, especially the way the authors wrapped it up.

In addition, I could not stand Iris in this book. She tried way too hard to be a badass businesswoman, but she lacked experience, which in turn made her needy and whiny.

I love RH, especially when everyone is on the same page, but it was lacking for me with this book. It made Iris appear to be a total slotbag.

I still enjoyed it and would recommend it if you like to finish the series. Again, this book is not needed.

Review: This book is the second in the Black Heart duet and it did not disappoint! It picks up right where Four left off and continues on with the action. This is the first and only RH that Iโ€™ve read where someone is introduced into the harem much later in the series and I think it added a very unique twist. This series is a great one if you want an action packed RH read that is quick to get through!

Likes: addition of new love interest later in the series, definitely kinky, action packed, unique harem

Dislikes: FMCโ€™s infidelity called into question (NOT a fan of a cheating trope or anything that could resemble that)

Tropes: enemies to lovers, forced proximity/captivity, mafia romance

Oh, the twists and turns that Five contained were EVERYTHING.

When I tell you I devoured this book, I seriously mean it, I couldnโ€™t put it down. And when it was over, I was left wanting more.

You HAVE to read Four first. While Sara Cate and Rachel Leigh do an amazing job at making this book seem like it could be a standalone, itโ€™s not. To understand the guys โ€“ Baron, Silas, and Gabriel, along with Iris โ€“ you have to have read Four. That is where you get their story, why and how they ended up together, and why thereโ€™s tension between the brothers.

Itโ€™s not hard to guess based on the title that another guy gets added to the RH. Iโ€™m a little conflicted with who gets added โ€“ I personally think it was a TAD too much โ€“ but, I still loved the story.

Five is an intense and steamy read, like really, really steamy. There were moments where I peaked behind me to make sure no one was looking over my shoulder and reading my Kindle, even though I was the only one home at the time. Thereโ€™s one crazy, taboo steamy moment at the end that blew my mind and I shamelessly wanted more of it.

I canโ€™t recommend this series enough! If youโ€™re looking for a tabooish, steamy, crime-filled romance, then you need to read the Black Hearts series!

Chaotic like Four was, but this time with multiple POV which the first one desperately needed.
