Wild Seed

Octavia E. Butler

4.18 AVERAGE

This book is crazy!!! I loved it but it’s also an emotionally difficult read. Shapeshifting and centuries and the matter-of-fact discussions of using humans as breeding stock. Doro is truly deranged, Anyanwu makes some morally questionable, objectively wild choices herself. A toxic love story for the ages (that I will neither admit nor deny I was rooting for). I recommend this to no one and everyone. The ACOTAR Addie LaRue 4th wing tiktok girlies could never

Still loving Ms. Butler. I'll grab the rest of the series.

The meandering and back and forth of the main characters started to get boring.

I just… I hate Doro so much. It’s just so not enjoyable if you’re waiting for the redemption arc moment. It’s there but falls flat. It is a book that really gets you thinking on some really interesting stuff. It’s a heck of a story, I’m glad I read it but I also just sat there after feeling a shell of myself. I read this because I loved Octavia’s other book Parable of the Sower- this one just didn’t  blow me away in the same manner but I think it’s still good writing.
