I'm so sorry that I was so quick going in to assume that this would miss the mark. Watson's voice wasn't 100% there but it is a tough one to land and the whole vampirism thing rather made up for some of the other shortcomings. 🧛 also the thing where
john kills his wife and moriarty is the Mariner Priest

The combination between the logical puzzle solving world of Sherlock Holmes and the gothic mythical world of Dracula is a unique and refreshing twist on both classic tales. A pleasant read overall, however the reveal of the enemies identity was no real surprise and a slightly over-utilised choice at that. Some of the cases left you with more questions than they answered and the interconnection felt threadbare at best.

To me, this could have succeeded more as a shorter novella (around 200 pages), but I kind of get why things had to happen the way they did.

I wished that Moriarity hadn’t been revealed as the Mariner Priest and that this Priest was a new character, or someone from the Dracula tale. But Quincy Morris being Randall Thorne was a bit satisfying.

In the end, it was a little slow, but fun. I can see this as a mini series on Netflix.

The premise of this book is so good that I wish a more talented author had thought of it. With this author we only get a mediocre book at best. He uses words that he clearly doesn't know the meaning of. One example was "the room was filled with a smattering of people." Well which is it? Is the room filled or does it just have a smattering of people in it?

In the audiobook, the narrator isn't the best either. He mispronounces many words, getting them wrong in both British and American English.

This was so incredibly well done. Written from Watson's perspective, as all Holme's stories are, the tale is well written, engaging, and it's fascinating to see how Holmes reacts to finding out vampires are real, along with how he handles and uses that information. I highly recommend this.
