The Calder Academy is a great spinoff to the Crave series! I really enjoyed the crave series so I was excited to read this book! And Tracy Wolf did not disappoint! I really like Clementine and Judes interactions! The back and forth banter between them was fantastic! The characters are complex and ones that will stay with you long after the last page! There's suspense, twists and turns, adventure, humor and so much more! It's a fantastic start to a new series! Thank you Tbr and Beyond Tours, Tracy Wolf and Entangled for sharing this fantastic story with me!

This is the kind of book I'm currently in the mood for. Dark, emotional, short chapters, interesting characters with secrets, magic, nightmares. I enjoyed this book from start to finish, even though the beginning of the book was kinda vague. There weren't many explanations and yet there were a lot of new and strange words. However, I did enjoy the atmosphere, the drama and meeting all the characters. And although it took a while for the plot to show up, I was never bored waiting for it. There's a lot going on and I was very happy that eventually everything came together quite nicely. Which doesn't mean this is the end of the story. Clearly not. I can't wait for the next installment!

I’m hovering between 2.5-3 stars.

I just finished this book and still processing but my question is, what did I just read?

This was my first experience into a fantasy book, I’m mostly into thrillers/mysteries. Getting out of my comfort zone but a school of paranormal characters intrigued me.

Well, while some parts were cool, I found the FMC annoying and there was no chemistry between her and the MMC. That whole storyline just felt forced imo. She made no sense and I couldn’t really feel/relate to her emotions when it came to Jude/Remy/Caroline as not much backstory is given. It’s all alluded to or glossed over quickly, I found myself asking “why is she so upset” a couple times.

Izzy and Remy stole the show for me, I was intrigued with their characters the most and kept reading for more of them or really for SOMETHING to happen. I almost DNF this but wanted to at least give a fantasy book a chance. Sadly I don’t think I’ll continue with this series but am still open to giving this genre a chance; until then, back to thrillers I go!
