I really enjoyed this easy fantasy read with a little high school romance thrown in. I appreciate the connections the author made to previous works and characters. On par for the books I’ve read by Wolff. An enjoyable read with not much to think about below the surface.

As a long term lover of Crave it was GREAT to jump back into this universe again with a whole new host of characters.
I really enjoyed where the story is leading, and how everything unraveled. Especially learning about who Jude truly was. I actually reaaaally enjoy the way Wolff writes her love interests over all and how determined our feisty, loyal, firecracker FMC Clem is. I’m hoping that we’ll dive a bit more into the found family asspects of our other characters in the next book which isn’t that long of a wait now!!!

17 year old Clementine has only ever known home as The Calder Academy, a school where the worst paranormals are sent when they can't keep their powers under control. Her mother runs the school, and although Clementine has never been in trouble, her powers are locked down just like every other students' on their island off the coast of Texas. She tried to stay under the radar to stay safe, but one person she can't resist being drawn to is Jude, a former friend that she secretly harbors feelings for. When a powerful hurricane threatens their school, the students must work together to save themselves and maybe discover their true powers at the same time.
I am a huge fan of the Crave series so I knew I wanted to pick this one up. However, I was not as enamored by this book. What I loved about Crave was the way the characters and their backstories were built prior to the action and drama and I felt Sweet Nightmare didn't deliver in the same way. I didn't feel an attachment to the characters because of it. While the action and turmoil is definitely on point and over the top, it almost overwhelmed the characters and the storyline, which left me feeling a bit confused at times. When the characters are constantly in a "oh s#!t" scenario, it leaves very little time for anything else.
