I was 90 pages and and still felt like I was missing pivotal info. Nothing bad but I got tired of tapping in the dark.
I just finished this book. I enjoyed this book for the most part and you had me for the first half, but I must say I expected a little more. There was some random things that I struggled to grasp, maybe because I didn’t read the Crave series first? Idk. A mating bond takes place out of the blue? Yes they are obviously in love but where did the mating thing come from? I just thought that was random and it was also unexplained. Maybe I missed an earlier mention about mating bonds in the book. So many different things happen and so many characters appear it just made my head hurt and not in the good way. Regardless, it was a fun read for the most part. Is this my favorite book of all time? No. Will I still read the next book? Probably.

First, if you haven’t read books 1-3 of the Crave series then you should know that Sweet Nightmare contains mild spoilers for that series with character crossover and is set in the same world.
While you can read Sweet Nightmare without reading the Crave series, I strongly suggest you read Crave 1-3 FIRST if you have any plans to read Crave at any point or you’ll definitely hit spoilers. I will keep this vague without mentioning info you can’t already find online or from the book blurbs.
Both Crave and Sweet Nightmare center around supernatural academies. But Sweet Nightmare focuses on monsters that have been sent to this “prison island”.
Overall I really enjoyed the book and will continue with the series!

Had a hard time getting into it, but then the plot picked up and I kept reading. It was VERY plot heavy, and it was chaotic with things constantly going wrong. I was also always confused about what was going on. The ending confused me more. I probably won’t read the rest of the series.
Sweet Nightmare by Tracy Wolf is a YA Fantasy that follows a broad cast of characters, Clementine at the center, as they attend Calder Academy. This academy is home to paranormal teenagers who lost abilities of their powers and were sent there to control them. However, something strange starts happening when a dangerous hurricane touches down on the island and forces everyone to evacuate.
I have never read Tracy Wolf’s other series, but I was excited to pick this one up. Firstly, I think the chapters in this were way too short and the length of the novel is too long. There were many things I felt could be taken out and condensed to make the story move along much faster. Some of the writing style just didn’t work for me and there is one plot point that comes up within the last twenty percent of the novel that I really hated. It ruins the authenticity of the story, especially when there are already so many different aspects of the world building and plot that you must keep track of. However, I don’t think this was bad. I did enjoy some parts and I liked a lot of the side characters! I just wish it was a little shorter and that the romantic elements were not what they were.
This comes out May 7th, 2024!

Thank you to Entangled Publishing @entangled_publishing @entangledteen @TBRBeyondTours, the author, @tracywolffbooks, and Netgalley @Netgalley for this arc. All thoughts are my own.
Calder Academy is where rogue paranormals go. You know, those that don’t quite fit in at other schools.
Unfortunately, Clementine is stuck with them because her mom runs the Academy. This doesn’t make her very popular.
However, when a freak storm hits the isolated island, they’re located on, they’re stuck without a backup plan. With no power. The worst nightmares are suddenly very real.
The only way for Clementine to survive is to align with one evil to avoid another.
This was a fun YA paranormal romance set in the author’s previous world of the Crave series. I haven’t read that series, and you don’t have to in order to understand this one. I really enjoyed getting lost in this story. It was fast paced and engaging, and it held my interest. This book was filled with some really fun banter! So fun. Clementine and Jude were awesome together and their friend group was an amazing found family. I felt that the characters were really well written and had a lot of depth. They were well rounded and really came to life. There was also a lot of suspense and full of exciting thrills. The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat and omg that hurricane! Just what!!!
This is a very addictive series; I can’t believe that I have to wait until May 2025 for the next edition! AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH
