This book was a great time. It was giving 2010s YA core. It had every supernatural creature in a troubled youth boarding school on an island with an incoming hurricane, and the author was killing her besties left and right- like there was so much death and destruction. The plot was crazy, things just kept happening and I was enraptured and said out loud several times like what the fuck is going on haha
Also the mating bond lol, low key we needed it and I’m here for it in this circumstance, man it made me giggle.

I think there was so much happening I felt like some mental breakdowns needed to occur, like a person can only handle so much and like her friends kept dying I’d be like worried haha - like maybe it was a bit too much plot wise, and these things needed more room to breathe. Also I feel like because so much action was occurring I don’t know the FMC that well besides her do gooder nature, her tragic backstory and her favourite chip flavour, but would have liked more introspection to get her on a deeper level. Also why did everyone forget that Remy was a time wizard lol
Anyway it was also very entertained and will keep reading the series lol

I feel like I've been LIED TO.

I can't be the only one who was expecting the POV to be either Remy or Izzy's. RIGHT? Don't get me wrong, this story was amazing. Following Shadow-Daddy Jude and Basically-Born-In-a-Prison Clementine.

So, because I said this for the first book (Crave), just because you mention Wednesday, doesn't mean that I can't make the comparison that this world/boarding school is remarkably similar to Wednesday.

I loved how full of world-building this story was, and I loved how many times they said "fuck" for no reason, other than that's how teenagers talk. It's definitely not as trashy-fun as the original series but I thought the same thing about the first Crave book so I'm holding out hope for more Remy and Izzy story.

Also, yes, there's a egregious amount of death and dismemberment in this book.

I love Tracy Wolff and I love her books. Oh my goodness.

Nothing has quite scratch the edge since I finished the crave series over a year ago, but this spinoff series was everything I could’ve wanted! It took me right back into the world of the crave series, but with a darker twist. And I absolutely ate it up.

I need book two immediately.

In Sweet Nightmare by Tracy Wolff, 17-year-old Clementine Calder navigates life at Calder Academy, a detention school for rogue paranormals run by her family. Unlike her peers, Clementine, a manticore, has never left the island or used her powers due to a magic block on the school.
Her former best friend, Jude Abernathy-Lee, a oneiroi, has been at the academy for ten years. Forced to reconnect after three years of silence for a class project, their uneasy partnership is tested when a massive hurricane approaches the island, causing chaos among the paranormals.
As tensions rise and strange occurrences unfold, Clementine and Jude must work together, but Jude’s dangerous secret could threaten them all.
Wolff skillfully weaves suspense, horror, and emotional depth, bringing to life a gripping story of friendship, resilience, and self-discovery.
