Shy, innocent American girl in England meets most attractive man and has a moment. Life comes to a grinding halt in her fairytale mind when a stunning woman approaches.
Back in reality, Kat slips away. She's here to study and live a little. England will be her new home. She's going to experience it all- except for the gorgeous guy who is obviously attached.

Preconceived notions and assumptions only seem to get in Kat's way. What if he could be so much more?

This book ends in a cliffhanger...ugh. I need answers and I need them now. It's a player vs. the innocent girl, but with a hot British accent. Waiting has never been my strong suit but I will be reading book 2.

Forbidden is the first book in Lauren Smith's new Her British Stepbrother series. These books are not standalones and the story of Tristan and Kat continues from one book to the next, so readers should expect cliffhanger endings. After finishing this first installment, I am definitely interested to see where things go from here.

Kat is an American studying at a university in England in order to be close to her dad who took a job there. While she is a 19 year old virgin, she is ready to start really living her life. So one night while at a pub with friends, she takes matters into her own hands and kisses a sexy stranger. Things between her and Tristan are electric right away, with a chemistry and connection neither of them can deny. But Tristan is known for being a playboy and Kat isn't willing to get her heart broken for a chance that she will be different. Tristan is determined to show her that things are different with her, and just as things appear to be turning around their parents announce their marriage. Despite everything that they have been building, Kat knows that she can't be with the one man she wants.

I really liked Tristan. He was sexy and confident, verging on the point of cocky at times. He was still very easy to like though, and I loved his determination with Kat. He was sweet and patient with her, and their connection was different right from the start. They had amazing chemistry that was smoking hot, and yet they were able to connect intellectually as well. These two had a lot of passion and while it was about different things, they could relate to one another. I really believed that these two were good for one another, and I enjoyed seeing them get to know one another. The one thing I will say is that Kat was a bit frustrating to me at times. While I understand some of her reluctance to give Tristan a shot because of his reputation and her inexperience, it got old seeing her judge him and make assumptions when he had given her no reason to. He never hid his past, and went out of his way to show her she was different.

The other thing I will say is that while I did enjoy much of this book, things were a bit cliched and very predictable. There wasn't much new ground broken here, and everything was pretty much what you would expect from the title alone. Although I have to say that to me this isn't really forbidden even with their parents getting married as they have been strangers their entire lives and met before their parents even told them they were seeing anyone. Their becoming step-siblings was entirely coincidence and just didn't feel that forbidden to me. I really liked Tristan and I like him with Kat, so I am anxiously awaiting the next installment and hoping that Kat isn't as frustrating in the next book as she was here. Forbidden is worth checking out, especially if you are a fan of new adult romance and sexy British heroes.

As soon as I saw that Ms. Smith was coming out with a stepbrother romance I immediately wanted to read it! I've really been looking forward to this serial and I wasn't disappointed at all with its start. Forbidden was utterly fantastic and I looooved it!

I'm sure that every bookworm who has or will pick up this book, is going to have a connection to Kat. She's definitely a bookworm herself and the way she sees and feels about books hits close to home, or it does for me at least. Kat is a beautiful, thoughtful heroine with depth, passion, and a kind, genuine heart that make it impossible not to love her - she is just wonderful and I'm excited to see her at the end of this adventure!

And Tristan, oh my gosh, Tristan! I've never really been one of those girls who goes crazy over British men and their accents, but woo-eee if there are any British men like Tristan, I need to find me one like right now! Tristan is so sexy and dominant he just makes me shiver, but when he brought out his sweet, thoughtful side, I was a total goner! Tristan Kingsley totally and completely has my heart and I have no doubts that he will steal yours too!

I don't know how Ms. Smith does it, but she just has a way of writing that makes you feel like you're being seduced right along with the heroine. Forbidden will seduce you, tantalize you and tempt you. It will make your heart race and make you bite your lip in anticipation. It is beyond sexy and I loved that but I was absolutely taken by Tristan and Kat's emotional relationship. They made me giggle and smile, but they also made my heart ache and made me shed a few tears. Forbidden was just excellent and I CANNOT wait to read Seduction!

Forbidden is the first part of the Her British Stepbrother serial, it's told from Kat and Tristan's POV, and even though I knew how it was going to end and that it would be a cliffhanger, it was still wild to read!

Been in a short stories kick for the moment. This was actually great enough for the shortness of it. It was packed with a lot of tension, chemistry, hotness and drama to feel me very satisfied with the small page count. Will definitely continue on with the series. Found the heroine and hero to be a very fun and spicy couple. Especially the heroine, having huge ambition and still being fun and flirty.

This was a very fast-paced story and I was able to read it pretty quickly. It read a lot like an insta-love romance but there was never really a declaration of love so technically I guess it was just a VERY strong instant attraction.

I liked the characters but never really felt the connection between them. I think that the secrets and desires that they shared with each other were supposed to be deep and meaningful and give the feeling that they share an intimacy with one another that they hadn't found before but what they revealed didn't seem that compelling to me.

I can already hear the complaints from readers about how easily Kat gave up her virginity to Tristan after holding onto it for so long but I'm a firm believer that sometimes when a person is ready, they are just ready. This story is a bit cliché but the way that the stepbrother situation plays into it is one of the better versions of a stepbrother romance that I've read. The way it comes about is a lot less icky.

This wasn't a story that really captured my full attention but I can't help but wonder if mood didn't play a factor in my opinion. Although this wasn't a story I LOVED, it definitely has me intrigued to the point that I NEED to know what happens next.

This book was wow!! I kept thinking this is different then I have read before, but I could not put my finger on why it was different. I still can't. Maybe it is different for me because I have not read a stepbrother romance, but I do not think this is why this book was different for me.

Kat has always been a good girl. On her birthday, she promises herself to have some fun and live a little bit while out celebrating her birthday with friends. Kat sees Tristan walk in. Tristan is a playboy, but there is something about Kat that he can not get out of his mind and he wants her more than anyone else.

Tristan is not technically her stepbrother yet. They met before they even kew all the details. Is this wrong? I have to say no. It is not like they grew up together as step-siblings.

This is a 3 book series. Book #2 is called Seduction. Book #3 is called Climax. I can not wait to read the other 2 books in this great series.
