I really liked this and read almost the whole thing in a single gulp. Strong sassy female characters, witty banter - there's lots to like here! There are a couple of characters who do that unfortunate "I always get what I want, and what I want is YOU" thing, which has a decidedly icky feel to a modern sensibility, but if you can overlook those bits, the rest is a lot of fun.

A recently orphaned girl comes to live with her eccentric uncle in New York. She gets to know the part her uncle's house and her ancestors played in the Revolutionary War in a very surprising way. This book is written for a younger reader, but I found the characters and plot complex enough to be enjoyable as an adult.
