Another absorbing tale of Liam and Ondry's experiences, this time on a Rownt ship and on Earth.

I enjoyed the first book so much after reading it three times I had to come get the next one and the next one.

In this book, the plot continues with Ondry and Liam entering human space with the hope on gaining enough status that Ondry will be allowed to trade for Liam to to have his life extended.

Again, like the second, I feel like this lacked some of the emotional intensity of the first. I'm not entirely sold on a lot of the worldbuilding elements and, while I could ignore them in the first book as the entire point is the burning intensity between Liam and Ondry, in the later books I feel they're more obtrusive. Like, what carried the first book was Liam's slow aceptance of the kind of love Ondry was able to offer him. Now they've achieved that, Ondry and Liam are almost on a more equal footing and some of the intensity of that early relationship has been lost. Maybe it's sweeter and more healthy but it doesn't feel like the thing I signed up for.

I decided to reread the first 2 books in this series, then wanted to know if she had published anything recently and saw that this had been released almost 6 months ago! I'm thrilled but how did I miss it...? Anyway, I immediately bought it and read it, and I loved it! I liked it a tiny bit less than the first 2, though -- 4 stars instead of 4.5 (which is still a great rating!)

I loved this continuing journey between Ondry and Liam. I loved learning more about the ways Rownt are just plain different from us. I loved the caring Ondry has for Liam.

The romance/spice in this is alright but I'm seriously reading this for the interesting sociocultural divide and navigation because it's cool as fuck.

Probably my favourite of the series, even if there are a few continuity errors.

Content warnings include: cultural differences, overprotectiveness towards a partner, sex on-page, BDSM (D/s, bondary, partial non-sexual); mentions of past sexual and child abuse and rape, PTSD, death from war, war injuries, some language is used that might be harmful to trans readers.

The third book in the series focusses on immediate Rownt and Human relations, and it was interesting to see it on such a bigger scale than just few traders or one singled out undercover agent.
As such there were a few stressful situations, but nothing too bad.

There wasn't much character or relationship development, but I nevertheless enjoyed myself. There are plenty of discussions about cultural differences, particularly in logic and thinking and caring about others, and Ondry and Liam have to confront yet another bunch of differences between them.

A must read for anyone who liked the previous books, but if one didn't it doesn't change up any dynamics.

Reread Oct. 2023

Just as fun as the first time around! I just really love this world and the worldbuilding and the alien species. I think that Ondry's and Liam's relationship kinda takes a back burner to the overarching plot of this book but I didn't mind that. This is just an easy reread and I'm having fun with it hehe.
