Wow, what a weird and touching book! I wasn't expecting it to be so spicy 😅 but I loved how it dealt with the different aspects of grief while staying entertaining and mega gay! An unusual read for sure, and one I won't forget any time soon!

What a lovely book. It deals with grief and with acceptance. M is truly a freak, but so is his mother. And while she gets acceptance for her performance and authenticity, M cannot find that among humans. And that's ok. The ending was so cathartic. And as a book, this was so easy to pick up and read. The language was beautiful, and I kept finding myself lingering on beautiful descriptions that perfectly encapsulated the feeling of a scene. Cordova is a truly talented writer.

sort of underwhelmed by this. the first portion of the book set a nice tone for the story, but i couldn't really connect with any of the other characters afterwords. i expected more horror and the writing was a little too plain for me. the overall theme of grief could have been more compelling if it was more focused on the gruesome transformation of monstrilio and his similarities to the child rather than the characters' romantic and sexual relationships. waahhh
