Read for my work book club - I recommended :p
Monstrilio has been one of my favourite reads this month. I adored the consistent emphasis on the individuality of grief/bereavement, different types of love, and how these different types of love manifest in times of despair. The relationship between Mago’s and Joseph in particular was very well developed throughout the book and you obtained a really clear sense of how their relationship began to deteriorate and rebuild. Additionally, I loved the amount of psychological theories/research which is evident in the development of Monstrilio’s character and how he develops throughout the book (particularly Freud’s theories of child development, the ID, Ego, and Superego). This is not my typical read but I thoroughly enjoyed it and I would gladly read it again! [⭐] [⭐] [⭐] [⭐]
