It's Alexa Riley, is it really a surprise that I loved this? Come on now.
Right off the bat, I'm really happy that most of the time Mallory used Miles's nickname (which is Oz), because Miles is my brother's name and occasionally I would get a quick flash of my brother instead of who I envisioned as Oz. That did sometimes pull me out of it.
So in real life this kind of obsessive/possessive behavior would make me run the other direction but in books, I love it. Oz sees Mallory when she's 17 and falls head over heels immediately and spends the next 5-8 years watching and protecting her from afar.
There's nothing too surprising about where this goes, if you've read a chunk of contemporary romance and/or erotic romance, you'll be able to figure out the play-by-play fairly easily. But despite the predictability I enjoyed the ride and zoomed through the book.
Although I loved Oz, That was the only major issue I had with Oz.
Overall this was a really great book. I flew through it, despite the hectic week I've had, and I can hardly wait for more full length novels by one of my favorite authors.

Now I figured out pretty quick that Paige would be a "hired friend", someone that Oz that after knowing Mallory for a while, really thinks of her as a true friend, not just someone she was hired to watch and befriend. When Mallory found out everything I felt so bad for Paige, I probably should have felt more for Mallory during that but I ended up feeling worse for Paige. I can't wait for her book.Although I loved Oz,
Spoiler
it really bothered me when he punched Joel. Joel wasn't doing anything but dancing with Mallory and Oz just comes out of no where and punches him. Yea, maybe Joel was flirting a bit but Mallory was handling it fine and it wasn't like Joel was pushing himself on Mallory.Overall this was a really great book. Currently reading. And I'm not sure if I will rate this.
Look, the main boy in this book is creepy. CREPPY all caps.
If you meet a guy at a bar and said guy buys your drink (without your permission) then proceeds to get your number, you go on a "date" with the guy twice on the same day, and the very next day this man comes barging in your apartment, acting all territorial and saying that you guys where exclusive from the moment that he saw you, you would be running off the effing HILLS!!!
Don't even try to deny it!
The main girl has said in the 86 pages that i've read that his words (and I quote) They
should probably scare me, but they make me fall even deeper for him. at least 10 times.
GIRL! GET A GRIP! THIS MAN IS NO GOOD.
YOU SHOULD BE SCARED! YOU'RE GONNA END CUFFED IN A BASEMENT SOMEWHERE!
That being said... I'm really enjoying it.
I just feel like books like this although entertaining and enjoyable can be REALLY dangerous for a young audience, or anybody susceptible to being manipulated. It's never right, and this book romanticizes it. So, I'd put a warning, or something. Because even when it can be a fantasy for many of us to have an alpha like this and blablabla, there's some really creppy and manipulative shit going on.
If it were me, I would've gotten a restraining orden like 60 pages ago. But...
ANYWAYS... Good smut? LOL
also--- this insta-love/lust is kinda hot until it isn't and you just have to ask yourself how hot can this guy/girl be? And c'mon, give the girl some brains.
Thanks.
Edit#2: UNPROTECTED SEX? REALLY? YOU'VE KNOWN THE GUY FOR 5 DAYS TOPS. I would love to have a chat about pregnancy and stds with this girl.
Edit#3: The end was cute. She was as crazy as him though. I still stand by everything I said.

I feel like I should hate this book on principle alone. As others have said, the hero's actions in this book would be very troubling in real life, but in fiction, he's kind of strangely sweet.
I really liked the first half of the book, but the second half was a bit of a let down. I think the big reveal happened too early, and the heroine accepted things too quickly. But I still ended up liking the book as a whole, and I'll continue the series.

This was my first Alexa Riley book and honestly my first erotic book ever. I REALLY loved it. It's so sweet and I absolutely love the characters, sometimes felt a little clunky. But once I could let go of my disbelief I just fell in love with the story. As everyone else has said this is FICTION. If someone ever treats you like the characters in this book RUN. But in this safe fiction space I can just enjoy all the fluffy mushy gushy romance with a bit of spice. Looked high and low for another book like this but so far this is one of a kind.

Oz is a walking red flag. That's the best way to describe him. Oz is definitely more appropriate than Miles.....at least at the beginning. The protective alpha, just don't forget he's a walking red flag. So why did I enjoy him so much? This book is perfectly named. Miles did everything for Mallory. It was intense, but sweet. He was literally a psychopath. But he had good intentions. (That doesn't exactly make it better! But more of an "oh I get it") She was what he needed. Literally and figuratively. Somehow, it became a comfort read. I'm really glad this was a full length read!

I've been a huge fan of Alexa Riley for a while now and I was so happy when I heard they were coming out with a full length novel! We have Miles aka Oz who is rich, alpha, possessive and over the top. Normally these kind of guys would annoy me but I love the way they are written by this author. Mallory has had to work hard for everything that she has since she grew up in the foster care system. She is no nonsense and has a good head on her shoulders. I loved how smart and driven her character was and how she called Miles out on his behavior. Miles has secretly been watching and plotting on how he was going to have Mallory forever. Some may consider it stalking but I call it hard love. Granted he went to extremes measures at times I thought it was cute and endearing how he always made sure she was taken care of throughout the years. Only 5 years go by before they can be together but he's not way older than her so it worked for me. I loved the connection the two characters had with each other and found myself cheesing like a teenage girl while reading. Can we talk about how hot these sex scenes were?! I need my own man with a limo ASAP!! When everything gets revealed and trust me it's a lot to digest! I'm happy Mallory took time to herself and didn't just let him back in 1,2,3. Make him work for it girl!! One issue I had was with the father and their past history. I was expecting more drama between the two of them at the end of the book. The scene with them two fell just a little flat for me. Aside from that one thing I really enjoyed this book. The secondary characters Paige (Mallory's Roommate) and Ryan (Mile’s Head of Security) were good additions and I can't wait to read about them in the next book. Oh and we got several epilogues which I loved!! It's nice to see the characters down the years and how they are doing. Fans of Alexa Riley will enjoy this cute, over the top, borderline stalkerish, romantic story.
