DID NOT FINISH: 19%

Found out that this author plagiarized a bunch of his “research” and got terminated from his workplace for creating hostile work conditions. Yikes dude

surprised with how anecdotal this was, but this book really put into perspective how physiological trauma is, the chapters on recovery were eye opening, especially the emphasis on sports and the arts
great read, but definitely important to consider the blatant western perspective it's written from

After reading this I now understand why it was recommended to me by so many people. The author argues that trauma is stored in the body and it affects our mental and physical health and our relationships. He provides compelling evidence for the effectiveness of holistic treatments that incorporate tuning into the body. He is not anti-medication by any means but he shows that there are possibilities to promote healing outside of the talking cure and medication.
