Really thankful i managed to get a copy of this eARC. Once again, Riley Sager’s book never fail to impress me. Middle of the Night has a great pacing and was super engaging for me. Love the interchanging chapters under different timelines in different characters’ POV. The character development was great and the plot was well detailed, definitely kept me on my toes guessing up till the end. Overall, a suspenseful thriller book with a hint of supernatural ♡

✨Thank you to Penguin Random House Audio for this gifted audiobook!!✨
This was a highly anticipated release for me, and it absolutely did not disappoint. I loved everything about it.
This book had great pacing, and there was a lot going on but not so much that it was difficult to follow. I had no idea how everything was going to shake out and I was completely shocked at several points throughout, and especially at the end.
The character development was great, the plot was perfectly detailed, and this was just such a good story. I was shocked, I was sad, and I just felt so connected to these characters.
Although Santino Fontana will always be the voice of Joe Goldberg to me(IYKYK), I thought he MADE this book. I listen to tons of audio and the narrator’s delivery can make or break the tone of the book and he just did an amazing job.
I was in a little bit of a slump and this pulled me right out. Sager can be a hit or miss author for me, but I’m always coming back to see what he comes up with next, and of the several I’ve read so far this is hands down THE BEST yet.

Thank you to Edelweiss and Dutton for this eARC.
This was a good read, however, it didn't quite hit the spot as most Riley Sager books tend to. Maybe it was because this was the first Sager book to not feature a female protagonist, but there were moments where Ethan's internal similes and metaphors just didn't make sense to me.
Maybe I just wasn't meant to relate to Ethan, and that's ok. The twists were surprising, but ultimately a little underwhelming. I did enjoy it, and I think with proper expectations others will as well.
For most of this book I was seeing similarities to Home Before Dark, another paranormal tale by Sager, and this book does follow that format. Even with that knowledge of how it might all end, I was a bit disappointed by the ending.

Sager wrote in this mysterious cult-like institution in the woods near this secretive, insular cul-de-sac neighborhood, and it felt like squandered potential to end it like he did...haleycannon's review against another edition

Not as spooky as I would have liked it to be, and it took a different direction in the last 20% of the book than I anticipated. Still, a solid, enjoyable book, and I’ll read anything Sager writes!
