Did I enjoy this book? Yes. Did I enjoy ALL of this book? No. Definitely an interesting time travel read with more emphasis on the history than the science fiction of it. The most interesting parts of this book are the moments when the adventure would slow down. I always found myself drifting a bit at these points but they are so short that suddenly the drama would pick right back up and I was invested again. Give it a shot if your a time travel fan, you won't be disappointed.
Well that was fun!! I think I forgot to feed the kids the past few days...or do anything other than read this book!

Well, it's madcap, and it's history, but really, Connie Willis writes funnier (To Say Nothing of the Dog) and more compelling (Blackout and All Clear) stories about the British historians who travel through time to rescue lost knowledge and treasures.
And for dodos and a bad corporate villain, Jasper Fford can take my money with his Thursday Next series (The Eyre Affair, etc.) all day long.
Just ODTAA isn't awful, but it felt like a bit of a retread to me.

It is very silly. The issue I had overall is that it felt written in a hurry don't worry too much about plotting or characters way. Perfectly fine for a beach read but doubt I'll read another in the series.
This title is the most descriptive I have ever come across. Can't wait to read the next one.
