Lots of fun. I've only read Marion Chesney/MC Beaton's Regencies before, but a friend recommended this series. I'll definitely continue with them: Agatha Raisin is funny and endearing and the goings on in the village are hilarious!

This is a lightweight cozy, set in a small English village; the newcomer, Agatha Raisin, sells her P.R. firm and retires to the Cotswolds, a childhood dream come true. Only--she's a fish out of water. She wants to feel accepted, but being accepted does mean being different than she's used to being. She considers returning to her old life, but when she visits London, it's not what she longs for. Oh, and then there's the man who she seemingly accidentally poisoned with her entry in the village quiche competition....
I really enjoyed the author's note at the beginning of the book, explaining the way that Agatha Raisin's character came to be.

The books are much weaker than the television series, which is at least a cool example of the power of strong adaption. I can’t keep reading the book series - Agatha on paper is just not likable and the book series has deeply problematic stereotypes and judgments regarding race and LGBT characters that are really gross. I’ll stick with the show.
No ha estado mal. Entretenido.
Mi problema yo creo que es en sí, los audiolibros. No me terminan de gustar.

I found the language contemporary to publication unexpected, so beware if that's a problem for you (some racial and homophobic language "acceptable" in 1992).
Otherwise it was a fairly expected plot, with many of the character archetypes one would expect in a little village mystery. It was refreshing to have an actually unlikeable heroine
