Sometimes he has a great read. Not this one. Filled with over the top cliches and his standard use of the same old stuff. Not recommended. :(

high street firm fighting mass tort drug case

At the start, David is a high-paid lawyer who works so much he never sees his wife, so he quits, and stumbles into a shoddy law office owned by Wally and Oscar, two ambulance chasers who have been working together, along with their smart secretary Rochelle, for a long time. He joins them as Wally devises a scheme to get part of a large tort case but they go up against one of the best rock star lawyers in the country. Meanwhile they work on cases for needy, poor people and a tragic lead-poisoning case. All three lawyers were well-developed and I enjoyed this greatly.

3 1/2 stars. Interesting and entertaining, but didn’t quite have that extra wow factor that you kind of expect from Grisham’s books.

Not one of Grisham’s best. The ending was predictable, but I did enjoy it.

What a fun read this was. Probably Grisham's funniest book. Not much of the story is surprising, but I didn't care, because I was enjoying the characters too much. It's a Grisham that's just plain fun.

You know the story before you read it: Callow lawyer gets fed up with the grueling grind and insane hours of corporate law, turns his back on it, goes through rough patches, maintains his integrity and even nobility, and then everything turns out beautifully in the end. He's written it many times. It's his own story. It should probably be boring by now, except it's not. Grisham can suck you in and spin a yarn that's fun and believable. It won't change your life or make you a better person or provide you any insights, but you'll just keep turning the pages and reading the tale until the last page.

I used to be a regular reader of John Grisham's novels back in the days of The Client, A Pelican Brief and The Runaway Jury. I am greatly disappointed in this book and the wasted time spent reading it.

The book started out promising with some interesting characters, but ended up being dull, predictable and an unrewarding read. If you want to read a good legal thriller check out the old John Grisham novels.

Finished this book this morning and I'm still not quite sure how to rate it. It is a pleasant read with a number of laugh out loud moment. The characters are fantastic and very engaging. I just wish they had been set in a better plot. The book is engaging while readin but once you set it down there really isn't a driving plot to make you want to pick it back up (could just be me I'm reading parts of about 4 non fiction books with nothing hooking me right now). I guess I was expecting a riveting court room thriller and this is more a detailed romp with 4 delightful characters as they muddle through a case of being in over their head. Loved the court scenes in the last 10% that was what I was expecting. 3.75 out of 5 stars. Glad I read it.
