This was great! Steady paced psy thriller with a domestic drama edge.

I can’t understand why there are such low ratings for this book. All I can guess is it’s because a MC is female but acts as many men do. Patriarchy is a virus.

Audio on hoopla.

Love being caught off guard, more than once!

**Spoiler alert**

I don’t understand why, when writing from Fiona’s perspective she doesn’t think about the fact that Kylie is locked up/what she needs to do to keep her alive etc once. It’s her stream of consciousness and not once does she drift to thinking about her until the reveal comes that she is the abductor? I think its a significant plot issue and it’s something that happens often with ‘who dunnits’ from the first person consciousness.

It was a good read, but I found it difficult to understand the perspectives of the various characters. The reactions seemed a bit far fetched.

The ending was rushed and felt unfinished. It became very clear how it was going to end, but unclear why.

The story seems unfinished. Leigh and Kai are fully developed and the story focused mostly on them and mostly from their point of view. Mark and Daan was by standers. Detective Clements and her actions were spotty especially given that her superiors did not want her to pursue the investigation any further. The pieces of evidence were weak and passable at best. Fiona's character did not make any type of sense! The ending was weak and rushed. I did enjoy the story up until the end and that broke it for me.

Thank you to Harlequin Trade Publishing, MIRA and NetGalley for letting me read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Enjoyable as an audio book but very predictable so I wasn't particularly excited by the twists. Didn't find any of the characters likeable at all which didnt help but I am intrigued by what the sequel might be like.
