I don't know, I liked the characters and the way the story is written, but about 4/5 done I just couldn't bring myself to pick the book up again for over 2 weeks. The ending wasn't what I wanted, tot obvious, too often done.

in theory, this should be the perfect novel for someone like me (bixesual, in love with movies). in practice, it absoulely wasn’t.
the story/mystery seemed so half-baked to me, like something i’d come up with during a quick brainstorming session. i was on bord with the runes and the blood magic, but as soon as the demon dogs turned up it lost me completely. also i think there’s so much more that could’ve been done with the idea of movie as a spectacle (i’m sorry i used to study film).
now, the two main characters … it took me some time but i began to like tristán about halfway through the book and began to see him as the interesting, layered character that he is. montserrat on the the other hand? she should be soooo relatable to me and yet she felt so very two dimensional. idk why i was so uninterested in her, but every time i saw the next chapter was from her pov i sighed.
and the ending? omg 😭 once i figured out that both montserrat and tristán were bi i got my hopes up way too high apparently. i’m not saying there needs to be anything explicit but there were so many mentions of tristán flirting with men, i would’ve loved to actually see a scene like that, it would’ve been a lot of fun. and i should’ve been sooooo excited by montserrat and tristán ending up together in the end but to me it didn’t feel earned, tristán went from “haha montserrat is so plain” to being in love with her within the span of a day, and all i could think was that it’s the trauma and not any genuine feelings he has for her.
my copy included the short story “flash frame” and i have to say that it was amazing!!! i wish the novel would’ve been moree like that.
