I just finished Glitterland by Alexis Hallz it’s one of their much earlier works and it has some stuff that REALLY didn’t age well. But I can totally see the building blocks for where their writing skills currently are. If anyone is planning to read their Spires series that was reprinted, I would definitely make sure you’re ready for some serious classist bs and some fat phobia bs. I love love loved the love interest and their chemistry was amazing, but I low key, and sometimes high key, hated the MC despite feeling really badly for him on the mental health stuff(see CWs) And I LOATH the MC’s supposed bestie. I constantly had to remind myself that this book is over a decade old and the author doesn’t write this problematically anymore. Don’t think I can recommend this one… never thought I’d dislike an Alexis Hall book this much…

This book was exactly what I needed. It hurt, but in the sweetest way. It was so incredibly cute - I laughed, I cried, I smiled until my cheeks hurt. It was just awww. I only wish I could experience reading it for the first time all over again. It absolutely healed my heart.
This was fine - per the authors note the main character had the tendency to be deeply unlikeable and I skimmed a lot of their moaning, but I thought it was good representation otherwise
This was a cute, quick read that left me with slightly mixed feelings. I love reading books in British settings with the accompanying dry humour. I also liked the representation of mental illness, Darian as a character and the writing in general.
What I struggled with was the way Darian's accent was written, but mostly with Ash and the way he treated Darian. I think it was supposed to represent the class aspect, and I don't know enough about the British class system to really understand it, but the way he looked down at Darian all the way to the end was off putting. Darian was great to him from the start and I'm not sure if I think Ash deserved him.
Either way, I enjoyed the book for the most part.
