I forgot so much of this book but I really loved being in Alicante. The only thing I can't wrap my head around is how Cassandra Clare expected her audience to root for Clary and Jace when first-time readers would've though they were brother and sister...

Also there was absolutely no reason for the Clary x Sebastian/Jonathan kiss.

Also also the chapters were way too long.

Reread 05/19- 06/19: this was so good! I liked it much better than the first time I read it. Bumped it up to a four stars.

12/18: Is it just me or this one was not as good as the other ones? :/

2.5 stars, wouldve gotten 3 maybe even 3.5 but, “you’re my sister, he said finally-“

Almost a 4.25 because Cassandra Clare actually surprised me with some things in this one, but had to bump it down because of the taboo relationship. I just felt like it went on way too long. Also the chapters were extremely long.

Honestly, this book gets my 5 stars. I mean I have read this series 3 times, so I would hope I liked it. This is the best book so far in the series and it is just a different level. We finally get to see Idris, the Shadowhunter home land that has been mentioned and referred to in the first two books. This book is when the plot really picks up, it had my heart falling out of my ass at every turn. I love Alicante, and the glass city, the new tension with Sebastian, as a character and then the BETRAYAL and plot twist. Thank God, Clary and Jace finally know the truth, the pain of waiting three GOD DAMN BOOKS, for them to finally found out the truth, when the damn inquisitor on the boat from book 2 was trying to spit it out before she hit the can the whole time. UGH!!!! This book is just so creative, I will never not be just impressed by Cassandra Clare's creativity and her world building.
